Coon Rapids Bayard At Ar-We-Va

Ar-We-Va turned a double play with the bases loaded and 1 out in the top 3rd on a deep fly ball to centerfield, then scored in the bottom of the 3rd to take the lead. Coon Rapids Bayard scored the next 10-runs, scoring in the final four innings. Emma Leiting singled to score Amber Ragaller for the Rockets in the bottom 3rd as Ar-We-Va went up 1-0. Anna Hart was sharp all night in the circle for the Crusaders, holding Ar-We-Va to 3 hits and only two baserunners the rest of the game. The Crusaders responded in the top 4th. After missing a golden opportunity in the top 3rd, they got a leadoff single from Breeley Clayburg, Kadey Olson singled with 1 out. Both scored on a double by Lydia Hofbauer. Maddy Mason doubled to score Hofbauer and Coon Rapids Bayard took a 3-1 lead into the 5th inning. Lacie Davis tripled to leadoff the top 5th for Coon Rapids Bayard. Malia Clayburg reached on an infield single and Breeley Clayburg doubled to score both. Brooklyn Burmeister flew out to right to score Breeley Clayburg later in the inning and Coon Rapids Bayard was on their way. The Crusaders bats heated up as the game went on, finishing with 14 hits and eight of their starters having a hit. Malia Clayburg ripped one to the outfield in the 6th, misplayed by the Rockets and Clayburg would come all the way to score on the play. Coon Rapids Bayard added a run in the 6th and 2 more in the 7th.

Breeley Clayburg led the Crusaders with 3 hits, including a double and 2 RBI. She scored 3 times. Lacie Davis, Malia Clayburg, Aubrey Hofbauer and Maddy Mason all had 2  hits with Lacie tripling, driving in a pair of runs, Malia doubled and scored twice, Maddy had a double and RBI while Aubrey added an RBI. Anna Hart went the distance, allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run with 9 strikeouts.

Jamie Hausman, Emma Leiting and Maggie Ragaller all had a hit for the Rockets. Leiting drove in a run while Amber Ragaller scored a run.

Coon Rapids Bayard improves to 5-11 and 4-4 in the RVC and will head to IKM-Manning on Wednesday. Ar-We-Va falls to 3-9 and 3-7 in the RVC and travels to Woodbine on Wednesday.

Shenandoah At Kuemper- Varsity Doubleheader

The Knights trailed 2-1 going into the bottom 3rd inning but responded with 7-runs to take charge of the game. Shenandoah got a pair of unearned runs in the top 3rd giving them the lead after Kuemper had scored a run in the bottom 1st. The Knights wasted no time responding. Kaci Peter walked and Kaylie Diercksen got on with a fielder’s choice. Ellie Sibbel singled to score a run and Myli Schaefer drove in a pair with a base hit. Kaylie Wolterman kept it going with a single and Allison Ostrander walked. Alexis Diercksen drove in a pair of runs with a single. Seven straight batters scored for the Knights in the 3rd. The Knights ended the game in the 5th, getting three straight walks and a bunt single by Melinda Schaefer to drive in a run. Kaylie Diercksen ended the game with a sac fly to right field. Kuemper finished the game with 12 hits.

Kaylie Diercksen, Ellie Sibbel, Myli Schaefer and Ally Sommerfeld all had 2 hits. Kaylie Diercksen, Myli Schaefer, Alexis Diercksen and Ally Sommerfeld all had 2 RBI while Kaci Peter, Kaylie Diercksen, Allison Ostrander and Alexis Diercksen all scored a pair of runs. Myli Schaefer got the win, allowing 4 hits and no earned runs in 5 innings. She struck out 5.

Kuemper couldn’t get the bats going in the second game of the double header until late, then ran out of time. They stranded Ellie Sibbel at 3rd in the 2nd inning, but only had four baserunners through the first-five innings with two of the runners being forced out at 2nd base. Shenandoah scored a run in the 1st inning, then added 3 in the 5th inning, helped out by a Kuemper error. Melinda Schaefer started a Kuemper rally in the 6th, singling and scoring on a Mustang error. Kaci Peter had a bunt single and scored on a second Mustang error. Ellie Sibbel added a single but was stranded at 1st base. Alexis Diercksen doubled with 2 outs in the 7th but the Knights couldn’t get another baserunner, falling 4-2.

Kaci Peter had 2 of the Knights 5 hits, Alexis Diercksen doubled and Melinda Schaefer and Kaci Peter scored their runs. Ally Sommerfeld took the loss, going 4 innings, allowing 5  hits and 2 earned runs with 2 strikeouts.

The split for Kuemper moves them to 15-12 overall. They will host Atlantic on Tuesday.

Carroll fell to the 4th ranked Comets in 5 innings at home on Monday, allowing 12 hits and 7 earned runs while garnering 3 hits. North Polk scored 8 times in the 1st inning, putting enough separation between them and the Tigers. Carroll picked up a run in the 1st with Kloee Jones scoring on a triple by Averi Burke. Jones and Olivia Rowedder had hits along with Burke. Camryn Schable took the loss, giving up 2  hits and 5 earned runs.

The Tigers fall to 12-13 overall and will travel to East Sac on Tuesday.

The Titans got a dominant pitching performance from Onna Haupert and collected 19 hits while scoring 17-runs, winning in 5 innings for their second win of the season. Haupert allowed only 1 hit and struck out 4 with just 1 walk. The game started slowly for the Titans, scoring a pair of runs in the 1st inning. Jayci Graeve singled and later scored on a single by Keira Hammen. Hammen also scored on a Madi Smidt double. That would be all the Titans would need, but they got the offense clicking again in the 3rd inning, scoring 3-runs with 4 more in the 4th. They led 9-0 going into the 5th inning, then erupted for 8-runs. They sent 12 batters to the plate in the 5th, starting with Onna Haupert getting hit by a pitch and scoring. Morgan McChesney singled, followed by singles by Olivia Toms and Jayci Graeve. Keira Hammen kept things going with a single followed by a double from Mady Smidt. Mia Babcock singled as did Onna Haupert, then Gracie Hungate doubled, scoring 2.

Keira Hammen paced the offense with 4 hits while Olivia Toms, Jayci Graeve, Adlen Wheelock, Mady Smidt, Mia Babcock, Gracie Hungate and Morgan McChesney all had 2 hits. Hungate had a double and 2 RBI while Mady Smidt doubled twice, driving in 3-runs. Keira Hammen added 4 RBI and Adlen Wheelock had 3 RBI, Jayci Graeve scored 3 times as did Hammen. Onna Haupert earned the win, going 5 innings with 1 hits and 4 strikeouts.

The Titans improve to 2-12 on the season and will host Newell Fonda on Wednesday.

East Sac gave the top team in the league and the 12th ranked in Class 2A Rebels all they could  handle on Monday, nearly picking up a huge win. The Raiders rallied in the 7th with a pair of runs with Emersyn Mack and Maci Gustavson both singled and scored  on a 2-run single by Jen Aschinger. East Sac trailed 4-1 going into the bottom 3rd, but kept chipping away at the deficit, setting up the 7th inning rally. Sioux Central scored 4 times in the 8th but the Raiders answered with 4-runs of their own. Emersyn Mack singled and the Raiders took advantage of a pair of Rebel errors. Makenna Steiger, Emersyn Mack, Mary Bontrager and Maci Gustavson scored and East Sac had runners on 1st and 2nd when the 8th ended. Morgan Christian tripled for Sioux Central to start the 9th and scored, then Avery Wilson picked up an RBI on a ground out to put them up 2. Kendall Quirk singled to start the Raider 9th and scored. East Sac had a  runner on 1st with a ball hit to right field when the runner was hit by the ball, ending the game.

Emersyn Mack had 4 hits with a double, drove in 2-runs and scored 3 times. Mary Bontrager added 3 hits and scored twice. Jen Aschinger had 3  hits with 4 RBI, Kami Ross and Kendall Quirk both had 2 hits with both scoring a run. The Raiders had 15 hits in the game.

The loss drops East Sac to 6-10. They host  Carroll on Tuesday.

IKM-Manning scored all 3 of their runs in the 7th inning, collecting 5  hits in the game, giving up 9 hits to the Panthers, who scored 4-runs in the 1st inning, then added 2 in the 3rd and 2 more runs in the 5th to open the game up. Alikxa McGinn kept her hot past few weeks going with a team  high 2  hits and scored a run, Alexis Gruhn and Taylor Beckendorf both had a hit and scored a run while Beckendorf added an RBI.

The second game was tight until the late innings when LoMa scored 7-runs in the 6th inning to blow open a 2-1 lead. The Wolves played one of their best games of the season, until 3 errors late, helped the Panthers scored 3 unearned runs. The Wolves finished with 3 hits, with Alikxa McGinn picking up a pair of hits. Anna Stangl had a hit and scored their run. Karlee Arp pitched well but took the loss, going 5 1/3 innings and 10 hits with 6 earned runs. She had given  up 2-runs going into the 6th inning.

The losses drop the Wolves to 2-16 overall. They travel to Treynor on Tuesday.

The Wheelers and Big Red played the game as a conference game and the championship game of the Audubon/ACGC Tournament from Saturday when the two teams advanced into the title game but had a game scheduled for Monday and with rain cancelling the rest of the tournament on Saturday decided to hold both games in one on Monday. Things didn’t go well for Audubon at the start. The Big Red had 3 hits a walk and used a Audubon error to score 5-runs in the 1st inning. Audubon tried to rally in the 1st. Mattie Nielsen walked and scored on a single by Alexis Obermeier. The Wheelers collected 2-hits in the inning with Kali Irlmeier singling but that would be all they would garner in the game. Missouri Valley scored 5-runs in the 2nd inning, adding 3 more in the 3rd.

Kali Irlmeier and Alexis Obermeier both had singles with Obermeier driving in Mattie Nielsen. Alexis Obermeier picked up the loss, allowing 6 earned runs on 12 hits in 3 innings.

The loss drops Audubon to 11-6. They head to LoMa on Tuesday.
