Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Three Area Baseball Teams Earn Wins on Wednesday

Baseball Results Wednesday, June 14th 

Gilbert At Carroll High

Ryan North singled, driving in a pair of runs in the 1st inning as Carroll took an early lead but Gilbert caught fire late, scoring 12-runs in the 4th and 5th innings combined to win. Tate Schleisman and Case Ragaller both scored on the North hit in the 1st inning. Gilbert took the lead in the 2nd inning with 3-runs before Carroll tied it in the bottom 3rd. Chase Ragaller reached on 1 of  his 2 hits and scored on a wild pitch. A 5-run 4th inning put Gilbert ahead for good, they added 7 more runs in the 5th.  Carroll had 3 errors, leading to 5 unearned runs.

Chase Ragaller paced the Tigers with 2  hits and 2-runs scored. Ryan North singled and drove in a pair of runs and Carter Essick added a base hit. Tate Schleisman scored their other run. Trey Tassel took the loss, going 4 innings, allowing 9 hits and 6 earned runs.

The Tigers fall to 3-12 overall and 1-8 in the Raccoon River Conference. Carroll hosts ADM on Thursday.

SE Valley At East Sac

The trend continued for East Sac on Wednesday, playing well until late, then walks and errors helped SE Valley pull away. The Raiders led 6-5 entering the 5th inning but gave up 6-runs. They pulled within 12-8 entering the 7th inning but allowed 6-runs. The Raiders gave up 13 unearned runs, walked 19 helping to give up 13-runs over the final 3 innings. The Raiders trailed 4-0 heading into the bottom 3rd, answering with 6-runs. Ryan Zimmerman was hit-by-pitch to leadoff the inning, Bradyn Burns reached on an error and Jack Gullett was hit-by-pitch to load the bases. Karter Ludwig drove in 2-runs with a single, Jack Gullett scored moments later on a wild pitch. Luke Wernimont singled and Ludwig then scored on an error of the bat of Weston Drost. Luke Wright drove in a run on a ground out and Carter Erritt ended the run with a base hit to score Drost. SE Valley scored a run in the 4th, then exploded for 6-runs in the 5th. East Sac chipped away in the bottom 5th on a sac fly by Luke Wright and a ground out from Carter Erritt scoring Weston Drost and Landon Sporrer. The Jaguars added 6-runs in the 7th to put the game away.

Weston Drost had a team high 2 hits and scored twice. Carter Erritt and Karter Ludwig both singled and drove in a pair of runs. Luke Wright added a pair of RBI. Karter Ludwig picked up the loss as the Raiders threw five pitchers.

The Raiders fall to 1-9 and will travel to South Central Calhoun on Friday.

The Crusaders got a nice bounce back win, getting a strong pitching performance from Kolby Culbertson and enough runs in the first-two innings to win the game. The Crusaders struck for 4-runs in the 1st inning, then added a run in the 2nd inning, building a 5-0 lead. They added runs in the 5th and 6th, then had to hold on in the 7th. The Bulldogs rallied with 4-runs in the 7th but Lance Clayburg was able to close the door on the hill. Both teams finished with 7 hits, but Coon Rapids Bayard walked 5 batters and hit two more. They countered that by walking 5 times and getting hit once.

Kolby Culbertson got the win, going 6 innings, allowing 4 hits and no earned runs while striking out 7. He added a base hit and RBI at the plate. Lance Clayburg hit a 2-run home run, one of his 2 hits. Clayburg had a team high  3RBI and scored twice. He struck out 2 on the hill, but allowed 3 hits and 4 earned runs. Cade Behrens had 2 hits and Jace Baker added a base hit and scored a run.

The Crusaders improved to 16-2 overall and will host SE Valley on Thursday.

Glidden Ralston rallied, getting 3-runs in the 6th and 3 more in the 7th to win. Mark Lensch ended the game with a 2-run walk off single. Alex Daniel, Waylon Hein and Colby Wallace all singled with Daniel scored on the Wallace single. Ethan Olberding was hit-by-pitch, setting up Mark Lensch. Lensch singled to right, scoring Waylon Hein and Colby Wallace. Glidden Ralston fell down 7-0 heading into the bottom 3rd. They chipped away, getting 3 in the 3rd, then scored 3 in the 5th, 6th and 7th. The runs in the 6th were crucial as Boyer Valley had scored 3 in the top 6th to take a 11-6 lead.

Mark Lensch ended the game with 2 hits including the walk off single and a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Colby Wallace added a couple hits and scored 3 times. Ethan Olberding, Blayce Nelson and Daniel Thooft all doubled with Nelson scoring twice while Olberding added an  RBI and scored twice. Alex Daniel earned the win, going 4 2/3 innings, allowing 4 hits and 4 earned runs.

The Wildcats improved to 4-10 and will travel to Ar-We-Va on Friday.

IKM-Manning left the bases loaded a couple of times early in the game before making adjustments at the plate. They led 3-0 after scoring a run in the 2nd inning and a pair of runs in the 3rd. They blew it open with a 5-run 4th inning, building a 8-0 lead. Zander Richards shut down the Tiger hitters all game but they were able to pick up a pair of runs in the 5th. The Wolves answered with 2 in the 6th and 2 more in the 7th.

Zander Richards earned the win, giving up 3 hits and 1 earned runs with 8 strikeouts. IKM-Manning collected 13 hits with Ben Ramsey leading the way with 3 hits, including a triple. Jace Starman, Ross Kusel, Kasche Huehn and Lane Sams all had 2 hits. Starman homered, driving in 2 runs and scoring 4 times. Sams had a triple and 3 RBI while Kusel scored twice and drove in a pair of runs. Huehn had a double, driving in a pair of runs and scored once.

IKM-Manning improves to 6-9 overall. They will host Missouri Valley on Thursday.

Ar-We-Va picked up 3 hits including a double from Devon Ehlers but fell on the road on Wednesday. The Spartans used a 5-run 3rd and a 3-run 4th inning to blow the game open. Wade Ragaller singled and scored and Santos Gonzalez added a base hit. Wyatt Ragaller took the loss, going 3 1/3 innings, giving up 6 earned runs on 9 hits with 5 strikeouts.

The loss drops Ar-We-Va to 0-8. They host Glidden Ralston on Friday.

Andrew Anderson hit a 2-run home run in the 5th inning and scored in the 3rd on a single by Brock Nattress. Charlie Nattress started on the hill, pitching well, but a few defensive miscues allowed the Indians to get up early.

The loss drops the Titans to 2-10. They host East Sac on Friday.
