The Carroll Tigers have dropped three games in a row with a home loss to Gilbert. Gilbert scored the first runs of the game and never looked back. Gilbert took a 2-0 lead going to the top of the second inning, where they scored four more runs to take a 6-0 lead over Carroll. Carroll cut into the Gilbert lead by plating one run each in the home half of the third and fourth innings to trail 6-2. Gilbert added another run in the top of the seventh and held Carroll scoreless in the bottom half to win Wednesday’s Racoon River Conference matchup.

The Tigers recorded eight hits in the game. Parker Adams, Kloee Jones, and Camryn Schable each had multiple hit games. Averi Burke pitched well in the circle going six innings, striking out three Gilbert hitters, and only giving up one run. The loss drops the Tigers to .500 on the season at 11-11 and 0-7 in conference play. The Tigers are back in action Thursday at home against ADM.

Southeast Valley at East Sac County

ESC did not have an answer for SE Valley as they put on a clinic at the plate recording 11 hits. SE Valley scored two runs in the first inning off of three hits. They extended their lead to 7-0 in the top of the second, plating five runs off of six hits. SE Valley scored two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings and went on to win the game 11-0 over ESC in five innings of play.

Maci Gustavson went all five innings in the circle giving up 11 hits and only walking two SE Valley batters. The Raiders only recorded one hit in the game, and it came off the bat of Kamryn Ross. The loss drops the Raiders to 5-9 on the season and 2-3 in Twin Lakes Conference play. ESC is back in action on Friday on the road against South Central Calhoun on KIKD 106.7.

South Central Calhoun at Pocahontas Area

South Central Calhoun jumped out to an early lead Wednesday against Pocahontas but could not hold them off as they dropped a game on the road. SCC scored the game’s first run, plating a single run in the top of the first inning. Pocahontas took the lead for the first time scoring two runs off of three hits in the bottom of the first. Pocahontas extended their lead by plating three more runs in the second inning to take a 5-1 going to the top half of the third inning. SCC cut back into the lead, scoring two runs of their own in the third off of two hits and a walk. Pocahontas would answer SCC by scoring two runs of their own in the home half of the third. Pocahontas took a 7-3 lead going to the home half of the fourth and extended their lead to 10-3. SCC cut the lead to five after scoring two more runs in the top of the six; however, Pocahontas would score five runs in the bottom half to win the game 15-5.

The Titans recorded nine hits in the game. Mia Babcock and Olivia Toms recorded two hits for SCC. The loss drops SCC to 1-11 on the season and 1-5 in Twin Lakes Conference play. The Titans are back in action on Friday on the road against ESC on KIKD 106.7.

Ar-We-Va at Exira-EHK

Ar-We-Va dropped a game on the road to a good Exira-EHK squad Wednesday night. The Rockets had the lead twice in the game, but it didn’t last long. Ar-We-Va scored the game’s first run in the top of the first inning. Exira- EHK responded by tieing the game in the home half of the first. The Rockets reclaimed the lead in the top of the third, placing another run to lead 2-1. In the bottom of the third, Exira-EHK regained the lead, scoring four times to lead 5-2. Exira-EHK held the Rockets scoreless in the top of the fourth and then plated nine runs in the bottom half to win 14-2 in four innings of action.

Ar-We-Va was held to only three hits in the game. Jamie Hausman, Maggie Ragaller, and Amber Ragaller recorded the hits. The Rockets struggled defensively, committing nine errors, leading to nine unearned runs. The loss drops Ar-We-Va to 2-8 and 2-6 in conference play. The Rockets are back in action again on Friday at home against Glidden-Ralston.

Coon Rapids-Bayard at Ogden

Coon Rapids-Bayard tried to rally late against Ogden but came up short on the road against Ogden. Ogden opened up the score plating one run in the first and two more in the second to take a 3-0 lead going to the top of the third inning. CRB scored their first run of the game in the top of the third inning, but Ogden would extend their lead by a run and led 4-1 going to the fourth inning. The Crusaders added another run in the top of the fourth and trailed Ogden 4-2 going to the top of the seventh. In the top half of the seventh inning, CRB scored another run but could not score again and lost 7-3 on the road Wednesday night.

CRB put the ball in play but only recorded three hits in the game while only striking out twice as a team. Anna Hart was fantastic on the mound again for the Crusaders going six innings and striking out eight Ogden hitters. The loss drops CRB to 2-11 on the season. The Crusader return to Rolling Valley Conference play on Friday on the road against Boyer Valley.

Boyer Valley at Glidden-Ralston

Glidden-Ralston cruised to a Rolling Valley Conference win at home Wednesday night. The Wildcats scored a run in all four innings. Glidden-Ralston plated four runs in the home half of the first inning and six more in the second to jump out to a 10-0 lead. The Wildcats added another run in the third inning and led 11-0 going to the fourth. Boyer Valley was able to plate a solo run in the top half of the fourth inning. In the home half of the fourth inning, the Wildcats scored one run to win the game by run rule 13-1.

Glidden-Ralston recorded nine hits in the game. Ashlynn Tigges, Kassidy Wenck, Jaelyn Subbert, and Brenna Bowman recorded multiple hits in Wednesday’s win. Venessa Koehler went all four innings in the circle, giving up two hits and striking out eight Boyer Valley Hitters. Koehler was also active on the bases stealing three bases. The win improves Glidden-Ralstons record to 9-5 on the season and 6-3 in conference play.

The Wolves lost on the road Wednesday night to an undefeated Griswold squad. Griswold scored in every inning. They struck first, scoring one run in the home half of the first. Griswold would add two more runs to their lead in the second and third innings to take a 5-0 lead going to the fourth inning. Griswold added four runs in the home half of the fourth and one run in the fifth inning to win 10-0 over IKM-Manning.

The Wolves only recorded one hit in the game off the bat of Lauren Greving. IKM-Manning hitters struck out 14 times in Wednesday’s game. Ella Richards went four-plus inning in the circle for the Wolves, giving up only five earned runs on nine hits and striking out two Griswold batters. The loss drops IKM-Manning to 2-11 on the season. The Wolves are back in action on Thursday at home against Missouri Valley.

Kuemper drops the first game of a varsity doubleheader to Creston after having to reschedule. Creston scored the game’s first run but had to come from behind to win. Kuemper scored two runs in the home half of the first, leading 2-1. Kuemper added three more runs in the second and one more in the third to take a 6-1 lead heading to the top of the fifth inning. Creston scored a run in the top half of the fifth inning to cut into the Kuemper lead at 6-2. Creston would add three more runs in the sixth inning and two more runs in the seventh inning and beat Kuemper 7-6 in game one of a varsity doubleheader.

Kuemper recorded ten hits in the game but left nine runs on base. Kaci Peter, Myli Schaefer, Charlotte Schwabe, and Ally Sommerfeld all had two hits in the game. Schaefer took the loss in the circle, going six-plus innings and striking out five Creston hitters.

Kuemper goes 0-2 on the night, dropping game number two to Creston in a six-inning contest. Creston took the lead in the top of the first inning scoring five runs, and never looked back. Creston added three more in the top half of the second inning and took an 8-0 going to the bottom of the second. Kuemper cut into the Creston lead by plating a single run in the home half of the second inning to trail 8-1. Creston extended their lead to 10-1 after scoring two more runs in the third inning. Kumper plated another run in the bottom of the third inning and still trailed Creston 10-2. Creston extended their lead to ten runs by plating two more runs in the top of the fifth inning to 12-2. The Knights scored again in the bottom of the fifth to keep the game going trailing 12-3. Creston scored their last three runs of the game by plating three more runs in the sixth and took a 15-3 lead going to the home half of the sixth. Kuemper tried to send the game to the seventh but could only score one run in the bottom of the sixth and lost 15-4.

Kuemper recorded nine hits in game number two. Charlotte Schwabe continued her great night by recording two more hits in the second game. The Knights used two pitchers in the game. They combined to go six innings giving up 14 earned runs on 16 hits. The two losses drop the Knights’s record to 13-10 and 4-5 in Hawkeye Ten Conference play. Kuemper is back in action Thursday on the road against Harlan.
