Emmetsburg At South Central Calhoun

Emmetsburg 14

South Central Calhoun 2     (4 Innings)

Emmetsburg came out aggressive, swinging the bat well and taking the extra base any chance they could. The Titans had three errors, extending the 2nd and 4th innings, but played a nearly flawless 3rd inning. Onna Haupert struck out 3 straight batters between the 2nd and 3rd innings and the Titans got Emmetsburg out with only four batters, hitting in the 3rd. That sparked their offense. They hadn’t had a base hit going into the 3rd. Morgan McChesney and Olivia Toms were both hit-by-pitch and Mady Smidt walked. The Titans were unlucky when Adlen Wheelock singled on a fly ball to center. McChesney had to wait to see if the ball would be caught and was thrown out at home. They hit paydirt a batter later, Keira Hammen singled to left, scoring a run. Jayci Graeve drove in Mady Smidt on a sac fly to deep right field and the Titans were down 9-2. Emmetsburg bounced back in the 4th, scoring 5-runs. The Titans went down in order in the bottom 4th.
