Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Area Softball 4-2 With Both Losses Against Local Teams

Kuemper took charge early, then road the arm of Myli Schaefer and a great team defensive effort to pick up a huge road win. The Knights entered the game, looking to replace the bad feelings from a pair of losses on Tuesday. They quickly grabbed the momentum with 4 hits and 4-runs. They finished the game with 9 hits while Schaefer allowed only 4 hits with great defensive plays from Kaylie Diercksen, Kaci Peter, Allison Ostrander, Alexis Diercksen and Schaefer in the circle. Atlantic left at least one runner on base in every inning.

Melinda Schaefer, Kaci Peter and Kayie Diercksen all singled to start the game. Ellie Sibbel capitalized with a 2-run double and Kuemper was off and running. Myli Schaefer and Alexis Obermeier both added an RBI on a good piece of hitting and Kuemper led 4-0 going into the bottom 1st.  Atlantic got a runner on 2nd in the bottom 1st but Schaefer worked out a pop up to 2nd base to end the threat. Kaci Peter singled to start the 3rd for Kuemper and scored after Kaylie Diercksen reached on a fielder’s choise and Ellie Sibbel doubled to score them both. Alexis Diercksen grounded out, hitting behind the runner to pick up an RBI and Kuemper led 7-0 after 3 innings. Kuemper didn’t threaten again until the 7th when Kaci Peter singled and stole 2nd base. Myli Schaefer and the defense took over after the 3rd. Kaylie Diercksen made several outstanding defensive plays at 3rd. Kaci Peter had a sliding catch in shallow centerfield, Allison Ostrander held on to a catch in left-center while colliding with Peter and Alexis Diercksen made a couple nice running catches in right field.

Ellie Sibbel had a pair of doubles, ending the game with 4 RBI. Kaci Peter had 3 hits and scored 3 times. Kaylie Diercksen added a pair of hits and scored twice and Myli Schaefer went all 7 innings with 4 strikeouts and 4 hits allowed in earning the win.

The Knights improve to 8-7 overall and will travel to Denison Schleswig on Thursday.

A pitching dual was determined by a 2-run home run to send the game to extra innings and a solo home run to walk off a win for Glidden Ralston. Vanessa Koehler earned the win for Glidden Ralston, striking out 19 Crusader batters while Anna Hart took the loss, allowing only 6 hits and striking out 14. Coon Rapids Bayard scored twice in the 3rd and 4th innings and looked to be in control late, up 4-2 going into the bottom of the 7th. The Wildcats got a runner on and Vanessa Koehler hit a 2-run home run, tying the game at 4 and sending it to extra innings. Neither team scored in the 8th and the Crusaders didn’t score in the 9th. Elizabeth Lloyd came up with 1 out and  nobody on and hit a solo home run to give the Wildcats a come from behind win. Its the second game in less than a week the Crusaders led into the 7th inning and lost in extra innings.

Vanessa Koehler had a triple to go with her 2-run home run along with scoring 3 of the Wildcats 5-runs. She earned the win, allowing 7 hits and 3 earned runs with 19 strikeouts. Elizabeth Lloyd added the game winning solo home run, finishing with 2 RBI. Brileigh Bock had a double.

Anna Hart and Kadey Olson both had 2 hits for the Crusaders. Hart had a double and a pair of RBI. Olson had an RBI and scored a run. Hart went 8 1/3 innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 earned runs with 14 strikeouts. Breeley Clayburg and Aubrey Hofbauer both had a hit and scored a run.

The  Wildcats improved to 7-2 overall and will host Woodbine on Friday. Coon Rapids Bayard falls to 2-8 and will travel to West Harrison on Friday.

A 6-run 2nd inning turned out to be the difference as both offense collected hits and runs. The Wolves finished the night with 15 hits, including 3 doubles, leading to 10-runs. Ar-We-Va had 14 hits with a pair of doubles but only scored 5 runs. IKM-Manning scored 6 times in the 2nd, building an 8-0 lead. The Rockets tried to rally, scoring at least a run in each of the final four innings. Their biggest inning was a 2-run 4th inning.

Alixka McGinn had a nearly perfect night at the plate for the Wolves, going 4-4 with 3 RBI, a pair of runs scored and 4 stolen bases. Anna Stangl, Brooke Booth (2-2B) and Ella Richards all had 2 hits. Stangl scored a pair of runs and Booth had 2 RBI. Hannah McKinney added a pair of RBI. Richards got the win, going 7 innings, allowing 3 earned runs with 7 strikeouts.

Maggie Ragaller and Delaney Schurke both had 3 hits for Ar-We-Va with both doubling and scoring a run. Schurke added an RBI. Jamie Hausman, Morgan Berg and Emma Leiting all  had 2 hits with Hausman with an RBI and Lieting with a run scored.

IKM-Manning improves to 2-7 overall and travels to AHSTW on Thursday. Ar-We-Va falls to 1-6 and will head to Boyer Valley on Friday.

East Sac used a big 3rd inning on offense, then a double play, a strikeout and a fly ball to get out of jams in the 6th and 7th inning. The win improves the Raiders to 4-3 overall.

The Raiders sent thirteen batters to the plate in the 3rd inning, getting hits from Emersyn Mack, Mary Bontrager, Kami Ross, Jen Aschinger, Jamie Pierce, Gracie Snyder, Makenna Steiger, Anna McCollough and Mack again. Maci Gustavson added a pair of walks and the Raiders pushed 7-runs across the board and led 7-1. They added a run in the 4th, then held on as GTRA scored 4-runs in the 5th and loaded the bases in the 6th. A 1-2-3 double play ended the threat in the 6th but GTRA loaded the bases again  in the 7th. Maci Gustavson got a big strikeout, then induced a fly ball to Mary Bontrager to end the game.

Emersyn Mack had a team high 3 hits with 2 going for doubles. Mack added a pair of RBI. Mary Bontrager had 2 hits and Jen Aschinger doubled, driving in a pair of runs. Jamie Pierce scored twice and Anna McCollough came off the bench for a hit and an RBI. Maci Gustavson earned the win, going 7 innings, allowing 5 runs and 9 hits with 5 strikeouts.

The Raiders host Storm Lake St Mary’s on Thursday.
