Kuemper won a close contest in game one of their varsity doubleheader Monday night over St. Albert. The Knights recorded five runs on six hits. Kuemper scored the first run of the game in the top of the third inning and added another run in the fifth to take a 2-0 lead. St. Aldert would add four runs in the home half of the fifth to take a 4-2 going to the sixth inning. Kuemper rallied late once again, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh to win the game 5-4.

Mason Knerl went the distance in game one striking out two St. Albert batters. Ethan Loew and Cooper Pottebaum each recorded two hits in the game. Kuemper had multiple chances to score, leaving nine runs on base.

Kuemper had a good showing at the plate beating St. Albert via a run rule in the second game of a doubleheader. Kuemper got the scoring going right away, plating six runs in the first inning and two more in the top of the second. St. Ablert would score their first runs of the game in the bottom of the second and trail 8-2 to the third. Kuemper added another run in the third and four more in the top of the fourth to extend their lead to 13-2. St. Albert would try to make a comeback in the bottom of the fifth, placing a single run. The Knights would go on and win game two 13-3 in five innings.

Kuemper recorded nine hits in the game but left six runs on base. Logan Sibenaller and Koby Lampman each recorded two hits in the game. The Knights used two pitchers, with Evan Loew going four innings and striking out two St. Albert batters. Kuemper is back in action on the road Thursday against Denison.

Stanton at Coon Rapids-Bayard

Coon Rapids-Bayard won a close game at home after holding a significant lead earlier in the game. The Crusaders were able to jump out to a 9-2 lead going into the fourth inning. They scored 3 times in each of the first-three innings. Stanton put together a three-run fourth inning and a four-run seventh to tie the game up at nine, going to the home half of the seventh inning. In the bottom of the seventh, Cal Heydon came to bat with a runner on base and hit a walk-off RBI double (his second of the game) to win the game 10-9.

The Crusaders used three different pitchers in the game and combined to give up seven hits, striking out six Stanton batters. Cade Behrens earned the win going 1 inning, allowing 1 run with 1 stikeout. Cal Heydon at the plate recorded four hits, with two going for extra bases. Heydon also drove in two RBIs. Tyler Mohr had a pair of hits and an

RBI, Kolby Culbertson scored 3 times and Lance Clayburg scored twice.

The win improves CRB’s record to 10-1 on the season. The Crusaders are back in action again on the road Wednesday against Glidden-Ralston.

Glidden-Ralston at Woodbine

It was a tale of two halves for the Wildcats in Tuesday night’s loss at Woodbine. Woodbine scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and then added six more in the second to take a 10-0 going to the third. Glidden-Ralston scored their first runs of the game in the second inning, plating two runs. They added another in the top of the fifth. The Wildcats held Woodbine scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when they scored three runs to win the game 13-3 via run rule.

Glidden-Ralston recorded four hits in the game. Alex Daniel pitched four-plus innings for the Wildcats, giving up eight earned runs on 11 hits.

IKM-Manning won a close matchup between two area schools and Western Iowa Conference teams. Audubon held the lead shortly, scoring a run each in the first and second inning. IKM-Manning took the lead in the top of the third inning scoring four runs. The Wolves would add a pair in the fifth to extend their lead 6-2. Audubon would chip into the Wolves’ lead, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 6-5. IKM-Manning would score a run each in the sixth and the seven innings and win the game 8-5.

The Wolves recorded 11 hits in the matchup. Ben Ramsey, Cooper Perdew, and Bryc Summerfield had multiple hits in the game. The Wheelers scored five runs on 13 hits. Gavin Larsen, Brody Schultes, Cooper Nielsen, and Jay Remsburg recorded two-plus hits in Tuesday’s game. IKM-Manning is back in action Wednesday on the road against AHSTW. Audubon travels to Tri-Center Thursday.
