State Track Results for Saturday, May 20th
The final day of the State Track and Field Championships were Saturday and brought with a multitude of moments that will be cherished forever.
The Carroll Tigers girls sprint medley relay team got things started for our area athletes. Brenna Goins, Libby Perkins, Madison Tunning, and Marie Dea competed in that relay and finished 10th overall with a time of 1:51.38. Marie Dea ran her heart out in the 800-meter run and came up just shy of a podium spot finishing fourth overall with a time of 2:15.54. Tunning wrapped up her time at state track in the 100-meter hurdles with a fifth-place finish in a time of 15.01.
Kuemper’s DJ Vonnahme qualified for the 100-meter dash and finished eighth in the finals with a time of 11.28, a new personal record. Jacob Greving was able to set a new personal record in the 1600-meter run where he finished 12th overall with a time of 4:32.60.
Audubon’s Zeke Konkler kept up with the leader of the pack in his heat of the 800-meter run, but he ended up falling a little behind and finished 19th overall with a time of 2:03.40. Madison Steckler had a phenomenal finish in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing second overall with a time of 15.30. She rounded out her time at state track with another strong finish, third overall in the 200-meter dash with a new personal record of 25.76.
The Ar-We-Va Rockets’ girls’ shuttle hurdle team magical run back to state track concluded with a sixth-place finish overall with a time of 1:09.26.
South Central Calhoun’s Chloe Judisch was able to win her heat in the 800-meter run but finished ninth overall with a final time of 2:19.70.
IKM-Manning’s Reed Hinners broke the school record in the 1600-meter run where he finished 11th overall with a time of 4:31.77. Caden Keller was in the same race and finished behind Hinners in 12th with a time of 4:34.18.
