Boys Track Results for Tuesday, April 18th, 2023
Kuemper at Madrid
The Kuemper Knights only brought their field event athletes to Madrid but came away with great results on Tuesday.
The biggest takeaway was Evan Adams placing first in the discus with a historic best throw of 171-08. That throw was good enough not only for a new school record, but automatically qualified him for the Drake Relays. Adams qualified for last year’s Drake Relays in the same event. Chris Mohr also had a solid outing at Madrid with a fourth-place finish with a best throw of 127-05.
Ben Gerken had another standout day in the high jump with a second-place finish with a best jump of 6-00.00. In the shot-put event, Evan Adams finished fifth overall with a best throw of 45-08.50. Connor Hays finished the same event in eighth place with a best throw of 39-02.50.
The Knights are back in action on Thursday, April 20th when they are at home for Carroll’s Tiger Relays.

East Sac at OABCIG
The East Sac Raiders had a solid day on the track Tuesday afternoon as they competed at the OABCIG Invitational. The Raiders ended up finishing fourth out of six schools with 73 team points. OABCIG won their own meet with 129 points followed by Ridge View with 115 and Alta-Aurelia with 108.
The Raiders ended up with three champions and four second or third place finishes. Landon Sporrer and Parker Engel dominated the individual distance races. Engel was able to win the 3200-meter run with a winning time of 11:12.89 while Sporrer won the 1600-meter run with a winning time of 5:22.36 and finished behind Engel in the 3200-meter run finishing second overall with a time of 11:23.34. Garret Ortner had the third and final championship for East Sac winning the 400-meter hurdles with a winning time of 1:01.49.
Logan Schroeder had two top individual finishes for the Raiders, finishing third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.36 and second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.88. Finally, Engel, Landon Grindle, Wyatt Smith, and Garret Hugeback competed in the 4X800 meter relay and finished third overall with a time of 10:33.35.
The Raiders are back in action on Monday, April 24th when they compete at Cherokee Washington for the Tomahawk Relays.

Audubon, Coon Rapids Bayard and Paton Churdan at Cam Anita Meet at Atlantic
Coon Rapids Bayard had four champions, Audubon had a pair of champions as both teams scored with 13 individuals or relays on Tuesday in Atlantic. Paton Churdan competed but didn’t have anyone place. The Crusaders took 3rd place with 84 points while Audubon ended in 5th place with 75 points. The Crusaders added three more 2nd or 3rd place finishes while the Wheelers had four 2nd or 3rd place finishes.
Lance Clayburg was one of the champions for the Crusaders, winning the Discus with a 154-10. He was part of the winning 4×200 with Wyatt Oswald, Kolby Culbertson and Omarion Floyd. They ran 1:36.85. The Crusaders won the 4×100 with Wyatt Oswald, Kolby Culbertson, Raiden Doty and Omarion Floyd in 46.32. Floyd added a championship in the 200 Meters with a 23.32. Their Shuttle Hurdle team took 2nd with Cal Heydon, Lucas Obert, Parker Hays and Jonny Cortez. Coon Rapids Bayard continued to show their strength in the throwing events with Lance Clayburg adding a 2nd place in the Shot Put to his discus title with Cal Heydon taking 3rd.
Zeke Konkler continues a strong season for Audubon with a championship in the 800 Meters, running a 2:10.39. The Distance Medley was Audubon’s other title, running a 4:00.72 with Dakota McCranie, Mason Steckler, Brody Schultes and Zeke Konkler. The Wheelers were 2nd in the 4×100 with Aaron Olsen, Zeke Konkler, Dakota McCranie and Manny Beisswenger. Those same four guys took 2nd in the Sprint Medley. Aaron Olsen added a 2nd place in the 100 Meters. The 4×400 took 3rd with Mason Steckler, Brody Schultes, Adam Obrecht, Carson Wessel.
Paton Churdan didn’t have any place, but Hunter Saffell was 21st in the 100 Meters and 19 in the 200 Meters. Saffell also took 12th in the Long Jump with Phoenix Hartman finishing 10th in the Long Jump. Logan Summers took 24th in the Shot Put and 26th in the Discus.
