Ballard at Carroll

Ballard 4

Carroll 2

The Carroll Tigers had the wind going against them in the first half against Ballard Thursday afternoon, but a nice comeback in the second half was stopped short by the Bombers.

Ballard had the strong winds going in their favor to start the contest and it became too much for Carroll to handle. The Bombers had their first goal at the 38-minute mark in the first half. Jireh Gallegos was able to hold off Ballard long enough to tie up the game at 1-1 on a corner kick. That momentum shift didn’t last long as Ballard came back and scored three more goals before halftime to lead 4-1. Those three goals happened between 25:31 and 18:00 in the first half.

In the second half, the Tigers were able to hold off the Bombers until Andres Cruz found an opportunity and scored halfway through the half to make the score 4-2. Although they had another momentum shift, time ran out for Carroll as they ended up falling to Ballard 4-2. Besides the goals from Gallegos and Cruz, Camron Schweers was able to get four shots on goal, Blake Heiman had three shots on goal, and Landon Petersen had two shots on goal. Tanner Heithoff played well in front of the net with 14 saves in total. According to Carroll Head Coach Gary MaGill, the Tigers controlled the corner kicks with a 7-2 advantage over Ballard.

The loss drops the Tigers to 2-3 overall. They are back on the road on Monday, April 17th when they take on Carlisle.
