Girls Tennis Results for Monday, April 3rd
Atlantic at Kuemper
Kuemper 9
Atlantic 0
The Kuemper girls’ tennis team had a solid day on the courts against Atlantic despite strong winds doing no one any favors. The Knights overall went 9-0 in matches and 72-16 in sets.
Sophie Rohe had the best day among her teammates, winning 8-0 over Rio Johnson. In an interview with Carroll Broadcasting, Rohe says she attacked Johnson’s back hand more and attacked the net while also fighting the wind on serves. Ella Schwarte, Kaylie Simons, and Elsa Tiefenthaler all handled their singles matches well, winning 8-1. Schwarte told Carroll Broadcasting that the wind played a big factor in her match, but she quickly adjusted and even used the wind to her advantage at times to score. Sophie Tidgren and Brooke Rohe both had to battle for their wins, but they eventually won 8-5.
The team of Sophie Rohe and Schwarte worked well in doubles, and they picked up the 8-0 win over Rio Johnson and Keira Olsen of Atlantic. Rohe says her chemistry with Schwarte is on point and they communicated well in their doubles match. Simons and Tiefenthaler saw similar success winning 8-1 over Genevieve McCalla and Mary McCurdy. While Tidgren and Brooke Rohe gave up two sets, they were still able to take care of business and won 8-2.
The Knights are now 1-1 overall on the season. They are off until Monday, April 10th when they travel to take on Red Oak.
