St Albert At Audubon
St Albert 8
Audubon 1
Audubon hosted St Albert on a windy but somewhat warm Thursday afternoon as the Wheelers got their season underway. Sawyer Toft played strong in his singles match, getting out early with strong serving, building an early lead. He led 4-3, then pushed the lead to 5-4. Toft says he didn’t want to have to extend the match so he went into the tenth game knowing he needed to score four quick points and end the match. He won 6-4 for the Wheelers lone win in singles. They dropped the match 8-1, falling in all three doubles matches. Connor Christensen and Eli Deist felt they played well but struggled some adjusting to the wind, which was very strong from the south. Christensen says it affected his serve more than anything. Isaac Jackson was solid in singles, falling 6-3. Lincoln Sorter and Carson Matthews were the Wheelers best doubles team, falling 6-3.
