Carroll gave the number one ranked Mustangs all they could handle on Saturday night. The game’s final score doesn’t show the competitiveness that was displayed in the game. Carroll trailed by 4 in the 4th quarter and had all the momentum but Dallas Center-Grimes got a big three from Kayla Reis as the shot clock expired to steal the momentum back. The Mustangs then salted the game away at the free throw line, going 20-25 for the game, outscoring Carroll by 14 from the free throw line as Carroll went 6-7 from the line. Carroll held the top three Mustang scores below their season average, giving up a combined six made baskets and 22-points (they average 36). The trio was able to do some damage at the free throw line, combing to go 13-17 from the line.

Dallas Center-Grimes took a 2-0 lead but Carroll had success with dribble penetration and Camryn Schable hit a tough runner in traffic to tie the game at 2. Carroll tied the game at 4, then took their first lead on a bucket by Shay Sinnard. Olivia Rowedder pushed the Carroll lead to 8-4 but the Mustang scored 4 straight to tie it, though Carroll led 8-7 at the end of the 1st quarter. The game changed leads four times over the first few minutes of the 2nd quarter. Dallas Center-Grimes went up 9-8, but Madison Tunning put Carroll back up 10-9, Dallas Center-Grimes scored again by Shay Sinnard sunk a pair of free throws and the Tigers led12-11. The Mustangs took the lead for the final time, going up 13-12 and they would never give up the lead again. They Mustangs led 18-14 late in the half but Shay Sinnard scored with two free throws. Carroll trailed 19-16 at half.  Both teams largest led in the 1st half was 4.

Camryn Schable kept the Tigers close early in the 3rd, getting a big buckets to pull them within 21-18 and 23-21. The Mustangs maintained the lead in the 3rd, keeping it between 2 and 6-points. Carroll headed to the 4th quarter, down 4, 30-26. Dallas Center-Grimes scored the first-three points of the 4th from the free throw line, but Shay Sinnard found the trailer, Camryn Schable on a Tiger fastbreak. Schable drained a three from the top of the key and Carroll shifted the momentum, pulling within 4. Dallas Center-Grimes called a timeout to slow the Tigers. Carroll defense forced the Mustangs out of what they wanted to do on the next possession but the Mustangs found Kayla Reis open right in front of their bench and she got a 24-foot shot off just before the shot clock expired, hitting nothing but the bottom of the net. The Mustangs held off Carroll and got momentum back on their side. They led 36-29 and salted the game away with defense and free throws. They held Carroll at 31-points for the final several minutes before Madison Tunning scored. During that run the Mustangs hit nine free throws, scoring their final 9-points from the line. They shot 61% on the season but finished 20-25 on Saturday.

Camryn Schable led the Tigers in points and rebounds with 12 and 6 respectively. Madison Tunning added 9 points and 2 steals.

The loss ends the Tigers season at 11-12.
