Carroll at State Swim Meet at Iowa City

Two of the Carroll boys swimmers were in action Friday in individual preliminary events to qualify for a spot to swim in Saturday’s finals.

Leegan Sease qualified for two individual events at the state meet, the 100 fly and breaststroke, and Kyle Sundrup qualified in the 100 backstroke. Both swimmers had to finish in the top 16 to at least swim in the consolations or in the top eight to swim for a podium spot. Sundrup finished in the 100 backstroke in 21st place with a time of 55.14. Sease was able to qualify for Saturday’s consolations in the 100 fly, finishing 12th with a time of 51.94. He also finished 17th in the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 59.97; he’ll be one of two backups in case a swimmer in the top 16 is injured or can’t compete Saturday.

Along with Sease competing in the 100 fly consolations on Saturday, Carroll has two relay teams in action. In the 200 medley relay, Sundrup, Sease, Ty Thomas, and Tristan Blair will compete in the finals, and in the 400 free relay, Jacob Greving, Blair, Sundrup, and Sease will be in action.
