The Coon Rapids Bayard Crusaders grabbed their third win in the last games as they took on ACGC Thursday night.
Both teams got off to a slow start offensively with Coon Rapids Bayard holding the slight two-point lead at 4-2. The Crusaders ramped up the intensity in the second quarter and started to take control of the game. They’d get double-digit points on the board and increase their lead to eight points at 18-10 at halftime. Breeley and Malia Clayburg have provided the Crusaders with big time performances and did so tonight as they both got double-doubles.
ACGC kept the game close in the third quarter and went on a 6-0 run to get within two points at 18-16. Coon Rapids Bayard had a scoring run of their own to get ahead 28-21 and stayed ahead despite a close finish to the quarter at 33-25. After the Crusaders got ahead 35-25, they were able to ride out the rest of the fourth quarter and came away with the 49-37 victory.
Breeley Clayburg led the team with her 17-point, 13-rebound double-double while her sister Malia was right behind her with 15 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double of her own. Anna Hart had a great overall night with a team high eight steals and five assists. The win elevates the Crusaders to 12-7 overall on the season. They are back at home on Friday, February 3rd when they host Boyer Valley.

Glidden Ralston at Madrid

Glidden Ralston’s Paige Klocke was able to cross two career milestones along with aiding the Wildcats to a win over Madrid Thursday night.
Madrid was able to get the early 3-2 lead before Glidden Ralston tied up the game at 4-4 and took the lead at 7-4. The Wildcats closed out the quarter and kept their lead alive at 13-6. The Tigers were able to gain some ground back in the second quarter and kept the game within three points. Glidden Ralston was only able to add six points to their total but were still ahead 19-16 at halftime. Klocke’s career night included a team high 17 points.
Glidden Ralston had a huge surge of offense to start off the second half, getting on a 14-3 scoring run to get up 33-25 after three quarters. The Tigers weren’t done yet as they’d cut down their eight-point deficit to five points at 39-34 midway through the fourth quarter. Glidden Ralston was able to close out the final moments of the game by chewing off the rest of the clock and winning 42-36.
Klocke in this game surpassed 600 career rebounds and 1,000 career points. Tiela Janssen added 10 points to the Wildcats score. Glidden Ralston improves to 11-8 overall on the season. They are on the road on Friday, February 3rd as they take on CAM Anita.

After being down by eight points entering the fourth quarter, the Paton Churdan Rockets were able to mount a late game comeback and defeat Colo Nesco Thursday night.
The Royals were able to get ahead 4-2 in the first quarter before the Rockets tied the game at 4-4 and 6-6. Paton Churdan was able to end the quarter with a 4-0 run to take a 10-6 lead. The Rockets kept their lead going up until the halfway point of the second quarter 13-11, but the Royals grabbed the lead at 16-13 after going on a 5-0 scoring run. Paton Churdan cut that deficit down to just one point before halftime at 21-20. Emma Stream and Becca Anderson both were crucial pieces to the success of the Rockets late in this game.
Colo Nesco’s lead was in danger all throughout the third quarter up until they were leading 25-23 and went on a 4-0 scoring run to get up 29-23. Paton Churdan found themselves down 33-25 entering the fourth quarter. After trailing by eight points, the Rockets got to work cutting down Colo Nesco’s lead down to two points 38-36. It wasn’t until the final few moments when Paton Churdan finally took over the lead and was able to close out the game with a 43-41 win.
Emma Stream ended up leading the Rockets with 17 points and Becca Anderson had 15. The Rockets picked up their second win of the season. They are at home on Friday, February 3rd when they host Coon Rapids Bayard. Tyler Brunner will broadcast that game on KIKD 106.7 starting around 5:45.

The Audubon Wheelers tried to bounce back from a slow start against CAM Anita Thursday night, but they were unable to mount a late game comeback.
The Cougars were winners of two straight getting past Coon Rapids Bayard and Boyer Valley while Audubon was trying to snap a two-game losing streak. The Cougars quickly got ahead in this game in the first quarter with a 15-0 scoring run before Audubon got three points on the board to trail 15-3. The Cougars kept their scoring pace up in the second quarter while Audubon was trying to catch up as much as they could. CAM Anita would control the first half and end up leading 36-14 at halftime. Madison Steckler and Kade Sporrer did as much as they could to lead the Wheelers in the second half.
Audubon had a much better second half and started off by matching the Cougars with 12 points in the third quarter, but still trailed 48-29. Audubon matched their performance with another 12 points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to erase their deficit, leading CAM Anita to win the game 64-41.
Steckler led the Wheelers with 12 points while Sporrer added 10 points. The loss drops Audubon to 2-18 overall on the season. They will wrap up their regular season as they travel to take on IKM-Manning on Tuesday, February 7th.

After leading by five points at halftime, the Boyer Valley Bulldogs roared back in the second half against IKM-Manning Thursday night.
The Wolves in the first quarter were able to fight off solid scoring from the Bulldogs and led by three points at 17-14. While Boyer Valley had a big second quarter, IKM-Manning had a slightly better quarter with 18 points added to their total to lead 36-31. Morgan Hanson and Anna Stangl were the scoring leaders of this offense and were trying to keep the Wolves ahead in this game.
In the second half, the Bulldogs cut into the Wolves lead even more. They’d end the third quarter only down one point to IKM-Manning at 47-46. The final eight minutes were tough for the Wolves, only nine points added to their total as Boyer Valley took over with 18 points and eventually took the 64-56 win.
Stangl ended up leading the Wolves with 13 points while Hanson ended the game with 10 points. The loss drops IKM-Manning to 6-13 overall on the season. They are on the road again on Friday, February 3rd when they take on LoMa.

The Ar-We-Va Rockets were at home Thursday night as they hosted LoMa.
The Panthers got off to a quick lead and wouldn’t let off the gas as they’d get up 18-0 going into the second quarter. After LoMa scored the first two points of the second quarter. The Rockets put three points on the board and were able to keep the Panthers at bay for a while. LoMa snapped out of their scoring drought and ended up leading 27-6 at halftime. Maggie Ragaller routinely has solid scoring performances for the Rockets, but she was tied down and kept to only seven points in this game.
The Rockets were on the winning side of a quarter as they were able to outscore LoMa 10-4 in the third quarter, but still trailed 31-16. LoMa was kept to only two points added to their total for a portion of the fourth quarter, but they eventually were able to add 10 points to their total and ended up with a 41-19 win. Ragaller led the team with seven points and Jamie Hausman had a team high six rebounds. The Rockets fall to 6-11 overall on the season.
