Coon Rapids Bayard 46
Woodbine 45
The Coon Rapids Bayard Crusaders grab a big win Friday night as they were able to topple the sixth-ranked team in Class 1A Woodbine.
The Tigers were undefeated going into this game with a recent win over Boyer Valley while Coon Rapids Bayard was trying to add to their two-game winning streak as they previously defeated Paton Churdan and West Harrison. The first half was mostly in favor of Woodbine as the Tigers were able to get up by three points at 12-9 and later 27-19 at halftime. The Crusaders saw one of their players in double-digits for points, that being Malia Clayburg who came away with 16 points. But the true player of the game would shine in the last moments of the game.
In the second half, Coon Rapids Bayard really started to apply pressure to Woodbine and their offense. The Tigers were kept to nine points in the third quarter while the Crusaders cut down their lead to just four points at 36-32. In the fourth quarter, the Tigers saw their lead cut down further and further until they lead by just two points at 45-43. Aubrey Hofbauer with eight seconds left capped off the big comeback for the Crusaders by draining a three-pointer to give her team the one-point lead at 46-45. With only moments to spare, the Crusader defense had to play well and they did, giving them the one-point victory at 46-45 and knocking off Woodbine.
For the Crusaders, Breeley Clayburg and Anna Hart both put up nine points with game-hero Aubrey Hofbauer putting up six points and four steals. The Crusaders move to 8-5 overall on the season and 6-4 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They are back in action on Monday, January 23rd when they travel to take on (4-10) Ogden.

Paton Churdan at West Harrison
Paton Churdan 61
West Harrison 53 (OT)
The Paton Churdan Rockets had to battle late against West Harrison and after being brought to overtime, the Rockets stood victorious.
Both teams went back and forth with the lead in the first quarter. West Harrison led first at 3-2, and Paton Churdan took the lead at 5-3 and 8-7 before the Hawkeyes closed out the quarter with a 4-0 run to take the lead back at 11-8. The second quarter was all Paton Churdan as they kept West Harrison to just six points while they put up 14. They tied the game at 15 points and took the lead at 19-15 and later led 24-17 at halftime. Becca Anderson once again was a threat for the Rockets as she’d end up with another big scoring performance.
The second half was another back-and-forth performance as West Harrison started to keep pace with the Rockets. Two ties were present in the third quarter at 29 and 31 before Paton Churdan again battled for the lead at 41-36 going into the fourth quarter. The Hawkeyes in the fourth quarter kept coming back from deficits and again forced ties. After a 47-all tie, the Hawkeyes found themselves ahead at 51-47, then the Rockets tied the game again at 51. Glidden Ralston at Boyer Valley
Glidden Ralston 53
Boyer Valley 51
The Glidden Ralston Wildcats had to hold tightly to their lead late against the Bulldogs as they missed some free throws late and had some foul trouble.
The Wildcats got back into their winning ways with a win over Ogden earlier in the week while Boyer Valley had their three-game win streak spoiled by a loss to #6 Woodbine. The Wildcats got rolling early in this game starting off with an 11-0 scoring run. They’d stay ahead and get up 17-5 heading into the second quarter. Boyer Valley started to get their team going as well, but still faced a Glidden Ralston team that can score well. Paige Klocke has emerged as one of those strong scorers as they have routinely put up 20-point performances this season, and did so again in this game. Glidden Ralston had another strong quarter in the second with 16 points and led 31-19 at halftime.
Despite holding on to the lead the entire game, late in the second half the Bulldogs were threatening to bring the contest into overtime. That started in the third quarter where the Bulldogs finally outscored the Wildcats 17-14 to cut down the lead to six points. Boyer Valley had their own scoring run in the quarter going 10-4. Glidden Ralston Head Coach Ashley Kahler says to combat the comeback from Boyer Valley, she had to switch up the defense. She added that her team got in foul trouble in this game and missed some free throws that would have padded their lead a bit better than it did in the end. Glidden Ralston started off the fourth quarter with a 4-0 scoring run, but Boyer Valley quickly started to chip away at the deficit. Toward the end of the game, the lead for Glidden Ralston was only four points at 53-49 and eventually was only two points at 53-51. The final play that won it for Glidden Ralston was when Paige Klocke got a hand on a Boyer Valley pass that ended up in the hands of Tiela Janssen which was the game-winning steal to seal it 53-51 for the Wildcats.
Klocke led Glidden Ralston once again with 27 points. The win elevates the Wildcats to 9-6 overall on the season and 7-4 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They will travel to Saydel High School as they take on Grand View Christian on Monday, January 23rd.
