The Kuemper Knights and Creston Panthers had a high scoring affair Friday night where Kuemper ended up on top by over 20 points.
After falling to Harlan on Monday night, the Knights bounced back with a big win over Clarinda while Creston was riding a three game winning streak into this contest. The Knights started off with three players who had six or more points with Dawson Gifford leading the way in the first quarter. He led the Knights with eight points as they’d get up 24-17. The second quarter was unbelievable for the Knights as they’d get on a roll from deep. They ended up with nine made three-pointers and added 30 points to their total at 54-35 at halftime. Michael Kasperbauer led the Knights in the first half with 17 points followed by Gifford with 16 points.
Despite a 19 point deficit, the Panthers were able to keep the game competitive down the stretch. Creston was only outscored by one point at 14-13 in the third quarter, still trailing by 20 at 68-48. The Knights rounded out their shootout with Creston with 20 more points added to their large total to end up with a 22 point win at 88-66.
Kuemper had two players who scored 20 points, Kasperbauer and Gifford. The win elevates Kuemper to 13-3 overall on the season and 7-1 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference. The Knights return to action on Saturday, January 21st when they travel to Gilbert High School to take on Pella.

The IKM-Manning Wolves had a teeter totter kind of night with Tri-Center as both teams took turns taking the lead and eventually, the Wolves had some late game magic go their way.
Tri-Center was on a three game winning streak with wins over Shenandoah, Audubon, and LoMa while IKM-Manning was trying to bounce back after a loss to AHSTW. The first quarter was going well for the Wolves as they led 11-9 toward the end of the quarter. That was until Tri-Center went on a 7-0 run to end the quarter and was able to take the lead at 16-11. The second quarter started off the back-and-forth between both teams with IKM-Manning taking the lead back at 18-16, going on a 7-0 run of their own. Tri-Center tied it against 18-18, but the Wolves finished out the half with a 10-5 scoring run to lead 28-23 at halftime. Three Wolves ended up with double digit points with Ben Ramsey leading the way with 18.
In the third quarter, Tri-Center came out and scored the first seven points to regain the lead again at 30-28. IKM-Manning tied the game again at 30-30 and Tri-Center scored to give them the lead back at 32-32. After more swapping of the lead, the Wolves ended up with another late quarter scoring run, going 10-4 to lead the Trojans 47-40 going into the fourth quarter. The lead changes kept coming in the final eight minutes of regulation. IKM-Manning held on to a solid lead at 53-44. Once the Wolves went a bit cold on the scoring end, the Trojans swooped in with a 12-2 scoring run to take the lead back at 56-55 with 1:30 left to play. Ben Ramsey ended up with a bucket on the other end for IKM-Manning with 1:00 left to give the Wolves the lead back at 57-56. After missed buckets from both teams. Reed Hinners was fouled with 14 seconds left and was able to make both ends of the one-and-one to give his team the 59-56 lead. Tri-Center had one last attempt to tie up the game again, but after a missed three-pointer that caused the ball to fall out of bounds, the Wolves ran out the clock to give them the 59-56 win.
Ramsey ended up with a team leading 18 points and added on seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Ross Kusel added 16 points and Reed Hinners had 14 points and eight rebounds. The win elevated the Wolves to 9-5 overall on the season and 7-4 in the Western Iowa Conference. IKM-Manning returns to action on Monday, January 23rd when they travel to take on Underwood.

The Audubon Wheelers weren’t able to get the start they wanted as they fell to AHSTW Friday night.
The Vikings are one of the top teams this season in the Western Iowa Conference and the Wheelers were trying to grab a big upset win before the weekend. AHSTW started off with a big scoring effort in the first quarter that saw them up 25-9. While their scoring went down a fair bit in the second quarter, the Vikings still held a large lead at 36-23. Edward Miller has been a big scoring threat for the Wheelers, but he put up six points in this game while Carson Bauer was able to take over and put up a big scoring night.
In the second half, both teams didn’t have the highest scoring totals, only having 15 total in the third quarter. AHSTW capped off their solid start with a solid ending with 16 points in the fourth quarter and ended up with a 60-38 win.
Bauer ended up leading the team with 20 points on the night. The loss drops the Wheelers to 4-11 overall and 3-9 in the Western Iowa Conference. They are off for the weekend and will return to action on Monday, January 23rd when they host Boyer Valley.

Glidden Ralston had a nice start with a good defensive effort on the road Friday, holding Boyer Valley to 4-points in the 1st quarter and 19 in the 1st half. The Wildcats led 24-19 at the half but struggles in the 3rd quarter allowed Boyer Valley back in the game. Glidden Ralston turned the ball over in the 2nd half and didn’t score in the first-four minutes of the 3rd quarter. The offense picked up again in the 4th quarter but Boyer Valley was able to take advantage of the Wildcats turnovers to hold them off.
Ethan Olberding led a pair of Wildcats in double figures with 11 points, John Whitver added 10 points and Jonathan Bergmeier finished with 8 points.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 2-12 overall and 2-7 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They take on Grand View Christian on Monday at Saydel.

The East Sac Raiders were able to grab their third win of the season as they had two big quarters against Alta-Aurelia that led to the Raiders cruising to victory.
The Raider had recently lost to West Bend-Mallard on January 17th while the Warriors were looking to snap a three game winning streak. In the first quarter, the Warriors were able to stay ahead of the Raiders by two points at 14-12. East Sac was able to bounce back in the second quarter with a performance that gave them the lead. Karter Ludwig was one of three players that ended up with double-digit points that helped the Raiders get up 26-23 at halftime.
In the second half, the Warriors were still trying to get out of their snafu as East Sac continued to steadily add to their lead. The Raiders used the opportunity to go 13-8 in the third quarter to lead 39-30 heading into the final eight minutes of the contest. The biggest quarter for both teams was in the fourth quarter. East Sac’s 21 point performance was plenty to keep them ahead of Alta-Aurelia and give them the 60-47 win at home.
Along with Ludwig’s 19 point performance, Sam Julin had 11 points and four assists off the bench and Caleb Eichhorn had 10 points. Luke Wright led the team with 13 rebounds and four steals along with nine points. The Raiders are now 4-8 overall on the season and 2-5 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They are back in action on Saturday, January 21st when they host Woodbury Central.

Coon Rapids Bayard trailed by 2 with 3:00 left but fell to a good Woodbine team on the road Friday night. The Crusaders battled back after falling behind by 6 at the end of the 1st quarter to pull within 1 at half. They gave themselves a chance late but 18 turnovers on the game allowed the Tigers to hold on. The defense held Woodbine to seven made shots inside the arc.
Cade Behrens had a game high 24 points. Lance Clayburg finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds and Cal Heydon added 9 points. Parker Hays pulled down 7 rebounds.
Crusaders fall to 6-6 overall and 4-5 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They head to Ogden Monday for a non-conference matchup.
