Girls Wrestling Results for Monday, January 16th, 2023
East Sac and Kuemper at Lewis Central Tournament
The East Sac and Kuemper wrestling teams both came away with top three finishes individually Monday at the Lewis Central Tournament.
East Sac’s Olivya Mack had the best finish for the Raiders, finishing second place at 100 pounds. She lost to Ava McNeil of Lewis Central via fall but climbed back with a win via fall over Daniela Salinas of CBCSD CoOp at 5:03.
Kuemper had two wrestlers finish in the top three, being Ally Sommerfeld and Kyla Wiskus. Sommerfeld went 1-2 on the day with a win over Jerri Hughes of CBCSD CoOp via fall at 1:56. She’d later wrestle her teammate Wiksus with Wiskus picking up the win via fall in the early part of the third period at 4:38. Wiskus was able to go 2-1 on the day finishing second at 115 pounds.

Carroll at Panorama
The Carroll Tigers came away Monday with four top three finishes as they competed at Panorama.
Julia Kanne picked up the lone first place finish for the Tigers at 105 pounds. She defeated Lily Webster of Colfax Mingo via fall at 3:22 and later defeated Maisy Davis of Clarke, Osceola Murray in the first round at 0:46 to capture the championship. Kloee Jones and Emma Grossman both tied up second place finishes. Jones got past Caliegh Rhiner of Ballard and Elyn Bartine of West Marshall via fall at 2:26 and 1:41 respectively. She would fall to Haley Galde of Earlham in the first-place match. Grossman saw similar success, receiving a bye in the quarterfinals and defeating Taylor Clark of Panorama via fall at 0:30 in the semifinals. She’d be outdone by Sturgis Fridley of Southeast Warren/Melcher Dallas in the 1st place match via a 10-6 decision. Averi Burke went 0-2 in matches wrestled, but 2-2 on the day, receiving two byes in the quarterfinals and consolation semifinals.
The Tigers are back on the mats on Tuesday, January 17th when they compete at the East Sac tournament along with Audubon and Kuemper.

South Central Calhoun at Emmetsburg
The South Central Calhoun Titans finished seventh and came away with some great wins as they competed at the E-Hawk Lady Invite Monday. The Titans ended up with 62 team points while Spencer won the meet with 172.
The worst placement South Central Calhoun came away with was fourth place. Delanie Westcott was able to bring home the one of the two first-place win for the Titans going 2-0 on the day and defeating Abbe Gorham of Algona via fall at 1:22 and Emily Winkel of Central Lyon-George Little Rock in the first place match via fall at 2:48. Evelyn Kramer was the other first place winner as she also went 2-0 defeating Kailee Spencer of Spencer via fall at 2:11 and Jenna Stohr of Algona at 1:54 in the first place match. Kourtney King and Iris Melody ended up with a second-place finish going 1-1. Lacey Martin was also able to go 1-1 on the day but ended up finishing in third place in her weight class.
The Titans are back in action on Friday, January 20th at the Spencer Invite.
