Kuemper was solid on defense and sharp on offense as they slowly pulled away before dominating the 4th quarter in their 6th straight win. The Knights were able to contain Richard Daugherty in the 1st half, holding him to 4 points, while getting him in foul trouble. Offensively they were balanced at half with eight guys scoring and six of those guys between 4 and 9 points. The Knights finished the game, shooting 46.8% from the field, hitting 14 shots from 3-point range. They assisted on 25 of their 29 baskets. The defense held Greene County to 4 points in the 4th quarter, keeping the Rams from making a run, after they pulled within 11 in the 3rd quarter.
Michael Kasperbauer hit a long three from the left wing, putting Kuemper up for good at 3-2. They extended the lead to 10-2 on buckets by DJ Vonnahme, free throws from Carson Kanne and a three from Brock Badding. The lead was grew to 17-7 late in the 1st quarter on a Carter Putney layup but Greene County scored the final 5-points and trailed 17-12 heading to the 2nd quarter. Dawson Gifford scored 5 straight to start the 2nd quarter, helping Kuemper take control. The lead grew to 31-16 midway through the quarter on three’s from Michael Kasperbauer and DJ Vonnahme and a bucket by Kasperbauer. The Rams pulled within 32-23 but Carson Kanne scored a bucket, DJ Vonnahme drained a three and scored a bucket and the Knights were back up 39-24 late in the half. They led 41-27 at the half.
The Rams scored to start the 3rd quarter, but Brock Badding hit a three and Michael Kasperbauer scored a buck and free throw and Kuemper led 47-29. Greene County chipped away, pulling within 61-50, but Carter Putney hit a 3 and the game settled back in for the Knights. Ben Gerken closed out the 3rd quarter with a thunderous 2-handed dunk and the Knights headed to the 4th with the momentum and a 66-50 lead. The defense took over in the 4th as Kuemper held Greene County to 4-points and Kuemper kept things clicking on offense, scoring 18-points in the quarter.
Brock Badding made 5-3’s to lead the Knights with 23 points and 2 block shots. Michael Kasperbauer had a nice game with 14 points and Dawson Gifford had another outstanding defensive game along with scoring 11 points to go with 3 steals. DJ Vonnahme finished the game with 9 points and Evan Adams kept fighting inside, ending the game with 8 rebounds.
The Knights sit 6-1 on the season and close out the pre-holiday break at St Albert on Tuesday.

Ar-We-Va used a big 3rd quarter to pull away for their first win of the season, outscoring Glidden Ralston 18-8 in the 3rd to open up a 38-23 lead. The Rockets were balanced on the offensive end and solid defensively all game. They held Glidden Ralston to single digits in three of the four quarters. The Wildcats did a nice job, batting back in the 2nd quarter, after scoring just 5-points in the 1st quarter, they responded with 10 in the 2nd quarter while holding Ar-We-Va to 7 points.
Wyatt Ragaller led a balanced Rockets attack with 14 points along with 5 steals. Blayne Smith added 11 points and 8 rebounds, Harley Molina had 8 points and 8 rebounds and Emmett Neumann scored 8 points with 7 rebounds and 3 block shots.
Ethan Olberding had a team high 9 points while Emmett Snyder and Colby Wallace each had 5 points.
The Rockets improve to 1-4 overall and 1-4 in the Rolling Valley Conference. Glidden Ralston falls to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the Rolling Valley Conference. Ar-We-Va hosts West Harrison on Tuesday, the Wildcats head to Woodbine on Tuesday.
