Kuemper built a first quarter lead, held off a run just before half and pulled away in the 4th quarter, picking up a big win against Kingsley Pierson. The Panthers entered the game 6-1 on the season but the Knights took it to them early, going up 20-10 in the 1st quarter. They held the lead until late in the half when Kingsley Pierson chipped away and tied the game. The Knights didn’t give up the lead and held a 27-24 lead at half, thanks to an offensive rebound and put back by Frannie Glynn. The game was tight all the way through the 3rd quarter. Aubrey Heuton hit three-threes in the 2nd half and Catherine Mayhall knocked down a pair of free throws at the end of the 3rd quarter as Kuemper built a 4 point lead heading into the final stanza. The Panthers kept it close until midway through the 4th when Catherine Mayhall hit a fadeaway jumper on the baseline, followed by a three from Aubrey Heuton, extending the lead to 9. Kuemper pushed the lead to 10, going on to win by 10.
Catherine Mayhall, Aubrey Heuton and Elsa Tiefenthaler all scored in double figures for Kuemper with Mayhall leading with 16 points, Heuton had 12 points and Tiefenthaler finished with 11 points. Frannie Glynn nearly had a double-double with 8 points and 13 rebounds.
Kuemper improved to 3-3 overall and will host Greene County on Saturday afternoon on KIKD 106.7.

Carroll played well defensively and was tied with 4th ranked Ballard on the road into the middle of the 3rd quarter when the Bombers heated up from beyond the arc. They pulled away down the stretch as Carroll struggled to score in the 4th quarter. The Tigers scored 15 points in the 3rd quarter, able to get the ball in the lane and hit some shots. But they struggled in the 4th quarter, scoring just 5 points.
Camryn Schable was the only Tiger in double figures, finishing with 10 points. Katelyn Aden added 8 points and Shayne Aschinger and Madison Tunning both scored 6 points.
The Tigers fall to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the Raccoon River Conference. They host Bondurant Farrar on Tuesday on KCIM.

The Ar-We-Va Rockets were locked in a heated battle Friday night as they hosted Rolling Valley Conference foe Coon Rapids Bayard.
The Crusaders were looking to keep a good streak in the conference alive while the Rockets were still chasing win number one. Both teams were sizing each other up in the first quarter with the Crusaders staying a head for a good portion of the quarter. Delaney Schurke was able to knock down a corner three-pointer to cut down the Rockets deficit to three points at 12-9. While the Rockets were focused on tying up Breeley Clayburg underneath the hoop, Malia Clayburg was busy cooking up eight points in the second quarter. The Crusaders kept the Rockets to only two points in the quarter as they were able to get ahead 23-11 entering halftime.
The Rockets did a better job in the third quarter of protecting the basket and stayed up with the Crusaders. After a 7-6 quarter, the Crusaders held on to their lead at 32-17 entering the fourth quarter. Maggie Ragaller was the anchor of the offense, doing her best to fight through the Crusaders defense and ended up with 13 points on the night. The Crusaders kept their momentum up in the final eight minutes of the game and came away with their fourth win on the season at 49-25.
Other notable performances included Jamie Hausman for Ar-We-Va who ended up with nine points and for the Crusaders Breeley Clayburg came away with 10 rebounds and Anna Hart had a game high seven steals and six assists. The Crusaders improve to 4-2 overall on the season ad 3-1 in the conference while Ar-We-Va falls to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
Ar-We-Va plays their next game in less than 24 hours when they host Glidden Ralston while Coon Rapids Bayard will wait till next Tuesday when they take on CAM Anita.

IKM-Manning couldn’t recover from a slow start against 4th ranked Treynor, falling to 2-2 in the Western Iowa Conference. The Wolves trailed 27-11 at the end of the 1st quarter and were down 47-18 by half. The Cardinals pressure defense created 42 turnovers and held the Wolves to 26.8% from the field. IKM-Manning shot the ball well from outside, hitting 5-11 from 3-point range with five different players making a three-point shot.
Mabel Langel led IKM-Manning with 12 points while tying with Anna Stangl for the lead with 4 rebounds. Stangl added a team high 5 assists. Morgan Hanson was second on the team in scoring with 4 points.
The Wolves fall to 2-4 overall and will travel to Missouri Valley on Tuesday on 93.7 KKRL.

Glidden Ralston won their fourth straight game, knocking off West Harrison on the road. The Wildcats took charge in the 2nd quarter and weren’t threatened again after that. The offense kept things rolling in the 2nd half, scoring 21 in the 3rd but struggled in the 4th as both teams scored 10 points.
Tiela Janssen led the Wildcats with 30 points and Paige Klocke added 20 points. Vanessa Koehler gave the Wildcats 11 points.
Glidden Ralston improves to 4-2 on the season and 3-1 in the Rolling Valley. They travel to Ar-We-Va on Saturday.

Audubon wasn’t able to recover in the 2nd half and fell to 0-7 on the season overall and 0-5 in the Western Iowa Conference. The Wheelers defended well, holding the Eagles to 21-points in the 2nd half.
Sienna Albertsen led the Wheelers with 13 points and Kade Sporrer finished with 7 points.
