Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: SCC Girls win, Paton Churdan Falls in Tight Game

South Central Calhoun was solid defensively, controlling the Jaguars ability to dribble-drive but struggled to find shooters allowing Breck Mills to hit five-three point shots. They held SE Valley to 17-points in the 1st half, helping them build a 15-point lead. South Central Calhoun turned the ball over 19 times but forced turnovers, finishing with 20 steals with seven different players having at least one steal. The Titans shot the ball well, hitting 42.9% from inside the arc, but struggled from deep, making 5-18 from three-point range.  

Kylee Schleisman and Riley Batta were in sync, leading the Titans in all categories. Schleisman had a team high 28 points to go with 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Batta contributed 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals. Bre Patterson added 5 rebounds. 

The win improves South Central Calhoun to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They head to Emmetsburg on Friday.

The Rockets played well, but wore down as the game progressed, falling in the 4th quarter as they dropped to 0-4 on the season. Their pressure defense in the 1st half created turnovers, helping them to build a 11-6 lead after the 1st quarter. West Central Valley charged back in the 2nd quarter tying the game by half. The Rockets trailed by 3 heading into the 4th quarter but foul trouble began to wear on them and they were only able to score 4 points. 

Becca Anderson continues to shine in her freshman season, leading Paton Churdan with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Bailey Anderson added 9 points and 5 rebounds and Emma Stream had 8 points and 7 rebounds. 

The Rockets host Glidden Ralston on KIKD 106.7 on Tuesday.
