Gilbert came out red out from deep on Friday night, hitting five-three-point shots in the 1st quarter. They built a 10-point led at the end of the 1st quarter and played consistent offensively all game. Carroll kept battling, playing hard the entire game but for the second straight game struggled offensively as they fall to 1-2 on the season.
Carroll played their best in the 2nd quarter, scoring 12 points, looking like they may be able to cut into the deficit as they held Gilbert to their lowest output for the game. Gilbert finished the game with ten made three-pointers, scoring 30 of their 67 points from beyond the arc. Carroll struggled from the free throw line and didn’t attack the three-point line, getting two from Camryn Schable, but not shooting many threes in the game.
Schable led the Tigers in scoring with 13 points. Olivia Rowedder added 6 points and 5 rebounds. Shay Sinnard had 6 points and hustled all over the floor.
The Tigers will head to North Polk on Tuesday.

Both teams entered the game looking for their first win of the season and through the middle of the 2nd quarter, it looked like it could be either team’s game. South Central Calhoun used a 16-2 run to the end the 1st half to open up what was a 21-18 game. Then blew the game open in the 3rd quarter, holding the Raiders to 2-points. The seniors for South Central Calhoun took over in Riley Batta and Kylee Schleisman with some help from sophomore Brenna McAlister. The win improves South Central Calhoun to 1-1 while the Raiders fell to 0-2.
Riley Batta and Kylee Schleisman helped the Titans jump out 4-0 before Mary Bontrager got going for the Raiders. She scored, making it 4-2, then the Titans scored 5 straight with Batta as a force inside. The Raiders answered again with Bontrager draining a three. A pair of Jen Aschinger free throws a Mary Bontrager bucket pulled the Titans within 11-9. Batta scored again for the Titans but Bontrager answered with a three, pulling the Raiders within 13-12. Batta and Kylee Scheisman scored go extend the Titans lead to 18-12 at the end of the 1st quarter.
Makenna Steiger hit a three early in the 2nd quarter for East Sac, but Riley Batta answered with her own 3, pushing the Titans lead to 21-15. Steiger hit a second three the next trip down the floor and the Raiders seemed to be in business, down 21-18. Bre Patterson scored for South Central Calhoun, followed by free throws from Riley Batta and the run began for South Central Calhoun. Brenna McAlister hit a three, then followed it with a bucket on the baseline for South Central Calhoun and their lead was 30-20. Kylee Scheisman hit a three, then Batta and McAlister hit back-to-back baskets and the Titans led 37-20 at half. McAlister, Batta and Schleisman scored right away in the 3rd and the Titans led 48-20, pushing the lead to 36 seconds into the 4th quarter.
Riley Batta paced South Central Calhoun with 25 points and 11 rebounds while adding 5 assists. Kylee Schleisman had a great floor game, breaking down the Raider defense while scoring 15 points and dishing out 6 assists. Brenna McAlister added 13 points.
The Raiders got 14 points and 3 steals from Mary Bontrager and Mckenna Steiger added 8 points and 3 rebounds. Kendall Quirk pulled down 5 rebounds off the bench.
The Titans travel to Mason NW Webster on Monday while East Sac is off until Friday next week against Newell Fonda.

IKM-Manning had three girls finish in double figures as they even then record at 1-1, holding on to beat Riverside by 5. The Wolves were able to establish Mabel Langel, building a 13-point lead at the end of the 1st quarter. IKM-Manning was cruising on all cylinders in the 1st quarter, scoring 27-points. The lead grew to 21 by half but the Wolves struggled offensively in the 2nd half, scoring 22 points. Riverside rallied in the 4th quarter, outscoring IKM-Manning 26-15 to make the game close.
Mabel Langel had a team high 25 points for IKM-Manning with Kaitlyn Spoelstra adding 14 points and Morgan Hanson knocking down 13 points.
The Wolves host AHTSW on Tuesday.

CAM Anita press gave Ar-We-Va helped them open up a tight game in the 2nd quarter as they outscored the Rockets 34-6. Ar-We-Va was able to play right with the Cougars in the 1st quarter, tying the score at 9 after the first stanza. The Cougars increased the intensity of their press and opened a big lead by half. The Rockets were playing their first game of the season while CAM Anita had a game under their belt already.
Maggie Ragaller paced the Rockets with 16 points and was their only player to score more than 5 points.
The loss drops the Rockets to 0-1 as they prepare to travel to Exira-EHK on Tuesday.

The Audubon Wheelers continued to improve this week as they played a close game against Tri-Center Friday night.
The Wheelers got out of the gate and played some great basketball. Both teams were able to put up double digit points with Tri-Center holding on to a slight three point 13-10 lead heading into the second quarter. Both teams were even in the next quarter, putting eight points and keeping the Trojans ahead by three at 21-18. Sienna Albertsen led the Wheelers on the night with 12 points in total.
The Wheelers didn’t quite get out to the same great start in the second half. Tri-Center put up another 13 points while Audubon got just six and trailed 34-24 going into the fourth quarter. Despite being down 10 points, the Wheelers kept their toughness going on the floor. They’d see a much more even quarter again in the fourth quarter, only being outscored by one point at 13-12, but ultimately fell 47-36. The Wheelers return to the court on Tuesday, December 6th when they host Treynor.

The Glidden Ralston Wildcats matched up well in the first half against Exira-EHK Friday, but the Spartans had a large second half performance that led to their victory.
Glidden Ralston had their hometown crowd behind them as they gave Exira-EHK a run for their money. The Wildcats tied up with the Spartans 12 points apiece after the end of the first quarter. Exira-EHK started to get out ahead by a few points going into halftime with a 24-20 lead. Two Wildcats were spot on in this game, those being Paige Klocke and Tiela Janssen, who put up 16 and 15 points respectively. In the second half, the Wildcats kept their momentum up, but the Spartans upped their intensity too.
In each of the final two quarters, the Spartans put up at least 20 points and didn’t leave Glidden Ralston much room to respond. The Wildcats still ended up with 15 points in the third quarter, but ended up with only eight points in the fourth quarter. Combined, Exira-EHK had 44 points in the second half that led them to a 68-43 win. The loss drops the Wildcats to 0-2 overall on the season and 0-1 to start off conference play. They are back on the court right away next week when they travel to take on Woodward Granger.

The Coon Rapids Bayard Crusaders will start off the 2022-2023 season with a 2-0 record as they were able to get past Paton Churdan Friday night.
Coon Rapids Bayard in the beginning parts of the contest started off in a full court press that worked to their advantage. Paton Churdan had a 2-3 zone defense working in their favor and made the Crusaders put up tough contested shots. Coon Rapids Bayard got out to a 19-5 first quarter lead and extended it to 35-11 at halftime. Breeley Clayburg gained plenty of confidence inside the paint in this game as she fought for rebounds and ended up with nine and made plenty of nice shots and had 18 points in total. Becca Anderson was the leader of the Rockets in this game, ended up with a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Coon Rapids Bayard got plenty of their players on the floor and maintained their pace in the second half. Paton Churdan had some late game magic with Emma Stream coming away with two-three pointers in the fourth quarter for eight points total and Bailey Anderson getting a three pointer of her own. Ultimately, it was Coon Rapids Bayard who came away victorious by a final score of 62-28.
Other performances from both teams include Stream for Paton Churdan who ended up with eight points and eight rebounds and Anna Hard for Coon Rapids Bayard who had 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and five steals. Coon Rapids Bayard will start off their early season with a 2-0 record and 1-0 in the Rolling Valley Conference while Paton Churdan will fall to 1-0 overall and in the conference. The Rockets will travel on Tuesday, December 6th to take on CAM Anita while the Crusaders will start off a busy week with Stanton on Monday, December 5th.
