IKM-Manning at Panorama
The IKM-Manning Wolves had to fight for their first quarter lead, but past that it was smooth sailing as they took on the Panorama Panthers Thursday night.
Despite a big game for the Wolves, they started off down against Panorama in the first quarter. The Wolves had to score eight points in the last minute of the quarter to take the lead at 16-10, but they never looked back. The second quarter stayed close with IKM-Manning putting up 14 points and Panorama getting 12 points in, but the Wolves held on to the lead at 30-22 at halftime. The Wolves ended up with four players scoring double digits with Ben Ramsey leading the way with 16, followed by Ross Kusel with 14, Reed Hinners with 11, and Cooper Irlmeier with 10.
The second half was a big scoring performance for the Wolves. They kept the Panthers to seven points total in the third quarter while they extended their lead to 45-29 with 15 points added to their total. Both teams were in a shootout in the fourth quarter as they both put up 20 plus points. While Panorama was able to outpace the Wolves 27-21 in the fourth quarter, the Wolves built up their lead enough to take home the 66-56 win on the road.
Other stat leaders for the Wolves included Caden Keller who had five blocks on the game, Ramsey and Irlmeier who both had five assists, Hinners who had eight rebounds, and Eli Dreyer who had two steals. The Wolves start off the season 1-0 overall. They close out their week of competition as they take on Western Iowa Conference opponent Riverside at home.

Glidden Ralston was in a battle Thursday night as they opened up the 2022-2023 season with a double overtime thriller against West Central Valley.
Glidden Ralston got off to a tremendous start as they kept West Central Valley at arm’s length, getting out to a 12-2 start in the first quarter. West Central Valley, though, swung the momentum clear to their side in the second quarter by putting up 20 points and taking a 22-19 lead into halftime. Under new head coach Jake Thompsen, Glidden Ralston had a solid performance with Jonathan Bergmeier going off for 19 points and Ethan Olberding putting up 10.
The second half was a back-and-forth battle between both teams with West Central Valley holding on to the slight advantage at 35-31 lead going into the fourth quarter. Despite a low scoring fourth quarter, Glidden Ralston was able to make up for their four-point deficit by winning the quarter 9-5 and forcing overtime tied at 40. In the first overtime, the needle did not move much as both teams’ offenses only put up two points each, leading to an additional overtime to decide the winner. West Central Valley was able to squeak out eight points in double overtime to finally win it 50-46 over Glidden Ralston.
Glidden Ralston will close out their week of competition with another home game as they take on Rolling Valley Conference foe Exira-EHK.

The Audubon Wheelers were tested well Thursday night as they hosted Missouri Valley. The Wheelers would keep the game close up until the end, but the Big Reds took home the 62-55 win. The loss drops the Wheelers to 0-2 overall on the season and 0-1 in the Western Iowa Conference.
