Carroll allowed single digits in points in three quarters, getting a solid defensive effort in a road win on Monday. Carroll was whistled for 24 fouls including 4 in the first 0:45 of the game, but that didn’t diminish the aggressive nature they defended all night. The Tigers only trailed once and it was briefly, early in the game. Webster City got an early three from Chloe Andersen, taking a 3-2 lead but Carroll responded with a 11-0 run behind a three from Katelyn Aden who followed that up with a three point play. Olivia Rowedder ended the run with an offensive rebound and put back. Carroll built a 21-7 lead as Camryn Schable drained a three off a pass from Katleyn Aden. The 13-5 lead at the end of the 1st quarter quickly grew in the 2nd quarter as Carroll switched to a 1-3-1, helping to create several turnovers. Webster City responded with a short run, pulling within 21-12 but Shay Sinnard gave Carroll the momentum back with a steal and a layup and Carroll led 28-14 at half after Madison Tunning hit Shay Sinnard for a bucket just before half. Carroll came out of the locker room sharp to start the 2nd half. Madison Tunning scored quickly and Shay Sinnard feed Shayne Aschinger inside for a 32-14 lead. The Tigers held Webster City to 5 points in the 1st quarter and 9 in the 2nd quarter, but may have played their best in the 3rd quarter, holding Webster City to 4 points. Katelyn Aden got a steal and layup, then feed Ava Gross for a bucket and Carroll led 40-16. Madison Tunning ended the quarter finding Camryn Schable for a 3 and Carroll was up 45-18 heading to the 4th quarter. Webster City battled hard in the 4th quarter, outscoring the Tigers 21-16.
Katelyn Aden led the Tigers with 17 points while pulling down 6 rebounds. Camryn Schable had a nifty game with 10 points and two made 3’s to go with 7 rebounds. Ava Gross led the Tigers with 8 rebounds, adding 7 points. Shay Sinnard finished with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Madison Tunning dished out 3 assists and had a pair of steals.
The Tigers open the season 1-0 and will head to Kuemper on Tuesday, November 29th.
