East Sac battled back in the 2nd quarter after a slow start put them down 8-0 to start the game. The Raiders pulled within 13, after trailing by 19 in the 2nd quarter but Storm Lake answered with a 10-3 run and lead 43-26 at half. The Tornados pressure sped the Raiders up, creating 28 turnovers, leading to several easy baskets. Maddy Raveling hit three 3’s in the 1st half for Storm Lake and Avery DeHaan got hot in the 2nd half, finishing with 35 points, including eight shots from beyond the arc. Storm Lake finished with 11 made 3’s.

Kendall Quirk battled hard inside, getting her team on the board with a pair of free throws, pulling the Raiders within 8-2. The Raiders didn’t get a lot of looks against the Tornados pressure in the 1st quarter and trailed 24-9 at the end of the quarter after Maddy Raveling drained a from over half court at the buzzer. East Sac played their best quarter of the night in the 2nd quarter. They switched to a man-to-man defense, slowing down the Tornado offense, allowing themselves to work the ball up the floor without having to face the pressure defense. East Sac fell down 31-12 early in the quarter, then rallied with a pair of free throws then a few 2-point baskets, trailing 33-20. They didn’t score again until Jen Aschinger hit a three from the right wing near the end of the half, cutting the deficit to 43-26. An 8-0 run to start the 2nd half put the game away for Storm Lake as they led 63-29 after the 3rd quarter. The game went into continuous clock in the 4th with Storm Lake up 68-32.

Mary Bontrager led the Raiders with 12 points while Makenna Steiger and Kendall Quirk each had 8 points. Quirk led the Raiders with 7 rebounds, 6 on the defensive end. Anna McCollough and Jen Aschinger each had 3 rebounds. The Raiders shot 34.3% from the field, going 3-13 from three-point range.

East Sac starts the season 0-1 and will host Woodbury Central on Tuesday, November 29th.
