Boys Cross Country Results for Thursday, October 20th

IKM-Manning, Audubon, and Coon Rapids Bayard at Class 1A State Qualifying Meet at ACGC

IKM-Manning, Audubon, and Coon Rapids Bayard cross country teams were in action Thursday at ACGC for their state qualifying meet. In Class 1A, the top two teams advance to the state meet along with the top 10 individual times.

The Wolves were able to secure a second-place finish as a team and will compete at the state meet in Fort Dodge. Along with IKM-Manning, ACGC was the winner of the meet. Audubon and Coon Rapids Bayard did not have enough runners to have a team score.

IKM-Manning’s performance also included two individuals who finished in the top 10, good enough to qualify as an individual. Caden Keller had another record setting meet as he won the meet with a time of 16:29.80. He told Carroll Broadcasting that he’s happy with his performance and is looking to finish top five at the state cross country meet. Lane Sams had a great finish for the Wolves, coming down to the final 100 meters to give him the 10th place finish in a time of 17:53.40, beating out Bo Arrasmith by .10 seconds. Sams said it took a lot of motivation in that last 100, but he’s excited to compete at state cross country for the first time in his high school career. Other finishes for the Wolves include Reed Hinners who was two spots behind Sams at 12th with a time of 18:16.80, Nathan Johnson who finished outside the top 15 at 16th at 18:40.10, and Kasche Huehn and Camden Morris who finished side by side at 21st and 22nd with time of 19:13.90 and 19:17.50 respectively.

For the Audubon Wheelers, they had Mason Steckler and Eli Deist running for them. Steckler finished his season with a final meet time of 21:45.40 and Deist finishes his 2022 season with a final course time of 22:10.30.

Coon Rapids Bayard had a lone runner at this meet, Logan Kenyon who finished the course with a final time of 26:11.20.

The Wolves will compete at the state cross country meet on Friday, October 28th at 11:15 AM.

East Sac and South Central Calhoun at Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Shenandoah

South Central Calhoun and East Sac traveled to Shenandoah for their state cross country qualifying meet Thursday where the Raiders were able to qualify two individuals.

As a team, the Raiders were two points shy of qualifying as a team for the state meet, finishing fourth overall with 127 points. Des Moines Christian, Chariton, and Clarinda were the team qualifiers. South Central Calhoun finished the meet in 10th place overall with 244 points.

The Raiders had two individuals who finished inside the top 15 to secure a state cross country spot. Parker Engel had another nice performance as he finished seventh with a final time of 17:23.26. Landon Sporrer was the final individual overall to qualify for the state meet, finishing 15th overall with a time of 17:29.62. Other finishes for the Raiders include Isaiah Aragon who finished 18th overall at 17:45.50, Wyatt Smith at 38th with a time of 19:26.06, and Owen Engel who finished 40th overall in a time of 19:53.96.

The South Central Calhoun Titans had their season end with some solid performances. Tristan Blair led the team with a 28th place finish at 18:53.76. Redge Potts wrapped up his season with a final course time of 19:17.20. Joe Thielen’s final meet of the season finished with a time of 19:49.09. Finally, Eli Wheelock had a final course time of 20:09.48 to round out his 2022 season.

Parker Engel and Sporrer will run at the Class 2A State Cross Country Meet on Friday, October 28th starting at 2:45.
