Carroll picked up their 10th win of the season, advancing through the quarterfinals in Class 4A Regional 3 with a sweep of Storm Lake. It wasn’t easy but Carroll made enough plays to pull out a tough second set and pull away late in both sets one and three. A Kaitlyn Tigges service run in set one put Carroll up 9-5 after the set had been tied five times and had changed leads three times. The Tigers fell behind 1-0 but then scored two straight to lead 2-1. Storm Lake tied it a 2, then again at 3 before taking a 4-3 lead. Carroll responded tying it at 4 and 5 before taking the lead for good at 6-5. Storm Lake rallied back to tie the set at 9 but a Madison Thornock service run separated the two teams and Carroll maintained their lead between 1 and 3. Storm Lake pulled within 15-14, but that would be as close as they would get the rest of the set. Carroll went on a 6-0 run to lead 21-14 and pulled out a 25-16 win.  It looked like Carroll would pull away in set two, jumping on top 6-1, but Storm Lake called timeout, then scored 6 of the next 7 points to tie the set at 7. Carroll never relinquished the lead but Storm Lake wouldn’t go away. Carroll built a 13-10 lead only to watch Storm Lake tie it at 14 and again at 15. It stayed tight the rest of the way with Carroll maintaining a 2 point lead and building to 3 points at 22-19. Storm Lake cut the lead to 23-22 and 24-23 but Madison Thornock clinched the Carroll win with a kill. Storm Lake jumped out quickly in set three, taking a 6-1 lead. A Carroll timeout settled them in and they slowly chipped away tying the set at 9. They took their first lead on an ace serve by Shay Sinnard, going up 13-12. Storm Lake scored the next three points to lead 15-13, but Carroll answered getting an ace from Madison Thornock to tie it at 15, then a kill from Thornock put them up for good at 16-15. Carroll closed the set and match on a 12-2 run after being down 15-13 and won 25-17.
