Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Kuemper, Ar-We-Va and Paton Churdan Competed in Tournaments on Saturday

Volleyball Results Saturday, October 8th 

Kuemper At Hamton Dumont Tournament 

Kuemper picked up a nice tournament championship on Saturday, sweeping through their pool, edging South Hardin in the semifinals,  then wining a rematch against Webster City in the championship match. The Knights went 6-0 in matches and 12-2 in sets. They dropped one set in pool play, topping Webster City 2-1, winning the first set 23-21 before dropping set two, 21-15. The Knights bounced back in a big way, winning set three 15-5. Kuemper out hit Webster City  .241 to .183 and had 5 more blocks in the match. Iowa Falls Alden hung with Kuemper with the Knights winning 21-15, 21-17. Kuemper hit .359 in the match and had 5 aces. They topped Janesville, using 7 aces to win 21-16, 21-11 and beat Ames 21-14, 21-7, using a .410 hitting efficiency along with 9 blocks to dominant the match. The semifinals match with South Hardin went three sets, with Kuemper taking set one 21-15, they nearly won the second set but fell 23-21, then pulled out a hard fought 15-12 win in set three. Ten blocks and fifteen aces helped them move into the finals. Kuemper swept the finals with Webster City, hitting .361 with 11 blocks and 7 aces.

Sophie Badding finished with a team high 40 kills, Frannie Glynn had 25 kills, Lauren Boell and Kaci Peter each had 17 kills, Brianna Wittrock finished with 13 kills and Aubrey Heuton 12 kills. Ashlyn Badding led the setters with 69 assists, with Macy Simons finishing with 50 assists. Kaylie Simons paced the back row with 51 digs, followed by Ashlyn Badding with 21, Brianna Wittrock 19, Macy Simons 17 and Brooke Rohe with 14. Kuemper was very good defensively at the net with Sophie Badding having a team high 19 blocks, Lauren Boell and Aubrey Heuton each had 9 blocks, Frannie Glynn finished with 8 blocks and Brianna Wittrock had 5 blocks. Kaylie Simons and Aubrey Heuton each had 9 aces, Ashlyn Badding 7 aces and Brianna Wittrock had 5 aces.

The Knights improve to 33-4 overall. They will host Harlan on Tuesday. A win clinches the outright Hawkeye 10 Conference Championship.

Ar-We-Va and Paton Churdan At CAM Anita Tournament 

Ar-We-Va went 1-2 on Saturday, knocking off Paton Churdan who finished 0-3. The Rockets were 2-4 in sets while Paton Churdan went 0-6. The battles of the Rockets was a good match with Ar-We-Va holding pulling away in set one, to win 21-14, then holding on in set two, winning 21-16. Ar-We-Va dropped their next match to Griswold, struggling in set one 21-5 but competing much better in set two, falling 21-13. Paton Churdan took the floor next and fell in both sets to Riverside, struggling to stay in system in a 21-1, 21-6 loss. Paton Churdan played their final match of the day, losing to Griswold 21-9, 21-7. Ar-We-Va finished up their day with a 21-12, 21-13 loss to Riverside.

Paige Teeples paced Paton Churdan with 4 kills, Tarynn Fisher added 3 kills while Emma Stream , Becca Anderson and Calleigh Fitzpatrick all had 2 kills. Bailey Anderson finished with 5 assists and Emma Stream had 3 assists. Bailey Anderson led the Rockets with 11 digs, Emma Stream added 10 digs, Paige Teeples and Grace Cullum had 9 digs each and Becca Anderson finished with 8 digs. Bailey Anderson had a team high 2 aces.

Ar-We-Va  was balanced at the net with Maggie Ragaller leading them with 10 kills, Kora Obrecht had 8 kills and Jamie Hausman finished with 7 kills. Amber Ragaller had 26 assists and 9 digs. Maggie Ragaller led them with 17 digs, Kora Obrecht added 15 digs, Jamie Hausman 12 digs, Emma Leiting 11 digs and Elizabeth Brunner had 7 digs. Makayla Schrad and Kora Obrecht each had 3 blocks, Emma Leiting and Maggie Ragaller both had 2 blocks. Kora Obrecht led the team with 4 aces, Maggie Ragaller and Jamie Hausman both had 2 aces.

Ar-We-Va falls to 4-14 overall and will host Coon Rapids Bayard on Tuesday. Paton Churdan slips to 0-17 overall and will host West Harrison on Tuesday.
