South Central Calhoun kept their hopes of a outright conference title alive with an impressive win over an East Sac team that kept battling, pulling within striking distance late in all three sets. The Titans were able to control the match with their serve finishing with 10 aces and a 90.7% serve efficiency. The Raiders served well, hitting on 92.3% of their serves but the Titans back row did a nice job most of the match in serve receive, allowing just 2 aces. Keira Hammen helped set the tempo early for the Titans with several big kills and was really strong on the block as the Titans out blocked East Sac 10-9. Addisen Ehler and Kendall Quirk kept the Raiders in set one with their block at the net with Ehler having several big one-on-one blocks.
Set one was tied twice early at 1 and 2 and had two lead changes with the Titans taking the lead for good at 3-2. They extended the lead to 12-4, with Elysia Smith having a nice service run that included a pair of aces. The Raiders fought back, pulling within 15-12 but the Titans answered outscoring the Raiders 7-4, to take a 22-16 lead, going on to win 25-18. The Titans went ahead for good in set two at 6-5 after the Raiders had taken an early 3-1 lead. South Central Calhoun extended the lead to 13-8 but Kenna Meyer had an ace, pulling the Raiders within 13-10. The Titans lead was quickly built back to 18-11 and the Titans would pull away to win 25-16.
The Raiders took a 1-0 lead in set three but the Titans came right back with a 4-0 run and never trailed again. The Raiders tied the match at 8, but were never able to take the lead. South Central Calhoun stayed steady and went on another run behind the serving of Alexa Holm who gave them several 3-5 point service runs during the match. The Raiders again fought back with a Kate Vondrak block cutting it to 17-16 and a Kenna Meyer kill, tying the set at 17. Jayci Graeve put the Titans up 18-17 with a great dump on the second ball and then Brenna McAlister took over with three kills in four points for the Titans, putting them up 22-18. Keira Hammen had a block to make it 2-21 and Norah Riedesel ended the match with an ace serve.
Keira Hammen paced the Titans at the net with 11 kills, Riley Batta had 8 kills and Brenna McAlister finished with 6 kills. Jayci Graeve added 3 smart kills to go with 25 assists. Kylee Schleiman did a nice job covering the Raiders tips and pushes, leading the Titans with 11 digs, Brenna McAlister added 8 digs. Keira Hammen was strong at the net with 6 blocks and Jayci Graeve added 2 blocks. Brenna McAlister and Elysia Smith both had a team high 3 aces and Graeve added 2 aces.
The Raiders struggled to stay in system and were led at the net by Kenna Meyer, Kate Vondrak and Addisen Ehler who all had 5 kills. Mary Bontrager finished with a team high 8 assists. Greeley Schlepp paced the back row with 9 digs, followed by Kate Vondrak with 7 and Kenna Meyer with 6 digs. Addisen Ehler and Kendall Quirk each had 3 blocks and Vondrak added 2.
The Titans improved to 30-5 overall and 9-0 in the TLC and head to 9-0 Newell Fonda next Thursday. The Raiders fell to 14-13 overall and will head to Alta-Aurelia on Thursday.

IKM-Manning hung tough and battled in the first-two sets, playing well. They struggled in set three, falling to 2-18 overall and 0-8 in the Western Valley Conference. The Wolves were led by Anna Stangl in the back row with 13 digs, while Eryn Ramsey added 6 digs. Megan Williams had a team high 3 kills and Amber Halbur finished with 2 kills and a team high 5 assists. Laura McCarville continues to serve well, picking up 5 aces.
The Wolves participate in the conference tournament next week.

The Coon Rapids Bayard Crusaders ended their last home game of the regular season with a nice win over Paton Churdan Thursday night.
Both teams in the beginning of the match saw some offensive struggles. The Crusaders struggled to get good serve receives from Paton Churdan and the Rockets were struggling with attacks against the Crusaders’ defense. The Rockets at the start of the set led by as much as 7-3, but Coon Rapids Bayard was able to tie the set at 11, followed by a 15 all tie. Paton Churdan continued to keep up in the set with a 19 all tie and 20 point tie. Eventually, Coon Rapids Bayard got ahead of the tie and were able to come away with a 25-21 set win.
The start of the second set was entirely in favor of the Crusaders. Gracy Johnson started off with four ace serves which started a 10-0 scoring run. Paton Churdan had some nice ace serves go their way, but didn’t have the chance to get back in the set. They would fall 25-14 in set two. Set three looked to be all Coon Rapids Bayard again until Paton Churdan started a late set comeback. The Crusaders were up 20-11 in the later parts when Paton Churdan took advantage of some miscues from the Crusaders to come back down 23-18. Despite that, Coon Rapids Bayard found ways around their defense and were victorious 25-18 and won 3-0 in sets.
Paton Churdan ended up with 11 aces serves on the night with Emma Stream accounting for three of those aces. Individually for the Crusaders, Malia Clayburg led the team with eight kills, Johnson set the ball well and ended up with 20 assists and served well with four aces, and Lacie Davis came away with 19 digs, leading the team. Coon Rapids Bayard is on the road on Tuesday, October 11th when they take on Ar-We-Va. Paton Churdan is at the CAM Tournament on Saturday, October 8th.

The Glidden Ralston Wildcats packed their gym for Thursday night’s home game against the Ar-We-Va Rockets.
Both teams put on an entertaining match with Glidden Ralston giving the hometown crowd a great effort. The Wildcats were matched up fairly well in set one against the Rockets where they had to fend them off plenty of times. The Wildcats were able to squeak by with a 25-17 win. The offense for Glidden Ralston was spot on with Paige Klocke and Vanessa Koehler each recording 10 kills. Set two as the best set for the Wildcats, but they were still met by the Ar-We-Va front row. Glidden Ralston was able to fend off the Rockets for a 25-16 win in set two. In set three, the Glidden Ralston crowd went home happy as their Wildcats were able to stay strong. The Rockets continued to keep the game interesting in the fleeting moments, but the Wildcats were once again able to stay out ahead and won 25-17 winning the match in three sets.
A milestone was reached for one Wildcat player, that being Addy Boell who surpassed the 1,000 career assist mark. She ended the night with 23 assists. Boell also led the team with three aces. Tiela Janssen was also an important piece to the Wildcat defense, ending the match with 18 digs. No stats were received by Ar-We-Va. The Rockets will be back in action on Saturday, October 8th when they compete in the CAM Anita Tournament. Glidden Ralston will host their senior night on Tuesday, October 11th when the host CAM Anita.

Audubon Wheelers had as close of a game as you can get as they were on the road taking on conference foe LoMa.
The pace for this game was set from the beginning with set one almost going to extra points. LoMa was able to edge out the win 25-22. Audubon put up a great effort in this match with Mattie Nielsen leading the way offensively. She ended the night with eight kills, six digs, and five aces. She got some great help in the front row from Harlow Miller who had five kills, five blocks, and three aces. Set two was brought into extra points with both teams unwilling to give up. The Panthers were once again able to squeeze out a 26-24 win. LoMa ended up with two players recording double digit kills, Cara Ohl with 12 and Macanna Guritz with 17. Set three was the best set of the match for LoMa, but they still had to earn the win. Audubon gave it their all but fell short 25-20 and lost in three sets to the Panthers.
Other stats from the Wheelers in this game include Addie Hocker who ended up with 18 assists on the night and led the team with eight digs. The loss drops Audubon to 12-14 overall on the season and 2-6 in the Western Iowa Conference. They are away from action until Monday, October 10th when they compete in the Western Iowa Conference.
