The undefeated Kuemper Knights successfully defended their streak and are now 5-0 with a crushing win over West Monona Friday night.

The Knights were off to the races in the first quarter when they got out to a quick 36-0 lead. DJ Vonnahme was able to find Chris Mohr in the end zone for a 51-yard touchdown and later a two-point conversion to lead 8-0. Mohr was then able to go on defense and get a blocked punt to set up an offensive drive that ended with Taye Vonnahme running in his first of two touchdowns to give the Knights the 15-0 lead with 7:53 left in the first quarter. From there in the first quarter, it was DJ Vonnahme finding Benjamin Gerken for a 40-yard touchdown pass, Taye Vonnahme running in his second touchdown, and a Jake Irlbeck interception to set up DJ Vonnahme getting his third touchdown pass of the game to Gerken. After all that action, the Knights led 36-0 going into the second quarter.

West Monona had a better time defensively keeping Kuemper out of the end zone for a majority of the second quarter. The Knights would eventually see more points added to their total when Cooper Pottebaum came in as quarterback and found Koby Lampman on a deep 73-yard touchdown to lead 43-0. Pottebaum would strike again in the quarter with a 14-yarder to Trevor Rial to give the Knights a huge 50-0 lead going into halftime. DJ Vonnahme in this game was a perfect 3/3 in passing with 104 yards and three touchdowns. Pottebaum saw similar success going 2/2 for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

The fiery start for Kuemper settled down in the second half with continuous clock in effect. West Monona was able to finally find the endzone in the fourth quarter when Chance Richards ran in a touchdown. Kuemper would also score in the fourth when Jace Hoffman found Nolan Simons in the endzone for a seven-yard touchdown pass. After the dust settled, the 10th ranked Kuemper Knights stood victorious by a final score of 57-6.

The win elevates the Knights to 5-0 on the season. They have their homecoming game this Friday when they host East Sac.
