Audubon at CAM Anita

CAM Anita 42

Audubon   8

The Audubon Wheelers had one of their biggest challenges of the season in week five when they took on CAM Anita in a district matchup.

CAM Anita had the first score on the board to take the early 6-0 lead. The Wheelers had a nice response when Aaron Olsen found Manny Beisswenger in the end zone and were able to put in a two-point conversion to lead 8-6. The Cougars got the last laugh in the first quarter to lead 14-8 going into the second quarter. The Audubon defense did a nice job of keeping CAM Anita out of the end zone for a good amount of time in the second quarter, but eventually, the Cougars scored with 5:17 left in the half. They’d strike once more before halftime to lead 28-8.

Zeke Konkler and Lane Barber continued to lead the Wheelers’ defense with six and 5.5 total tackles respectively. Olsen had a nice night throwing the ball with 138 passing yards, one touchdown with two interceptions. CAM Anita kept their offense rolling in the second half with a quick touchdown in the beginning of the third quarter, and another in the fourth with 6:10 left in the contest. Audubon’s offense wasn’t able to find ways past the Cougars’ defense and came away with the lone touchdown from Beisswenger. CAM Anita gets past Audubon by a final score of 42-8.

The loss drops Audubon to 2-4 overall on the season and 2-1 in the district. They will have their homecoming game Friday night when they play host to Coon Rapids Bayard.
