Kuemper continues to dominate in the 2022 season as they start the season off 4-0 after defeating MVAOCOU Friday.
The Knights got off to a quick start in the first quarter with two offensive drives that ended up with 14 points for the Knights. DJ Vonnahme ran one in and threw another to Jake Irlbeck to lead 14-0. Kuemper kept up their offensive pace with another touchdown with Vonnahme finding Trevor Rial in the endzone for an eight-yard reception to lead 21-0. The Rams couldn’t stop the Knights in the second quarter either. Taye Vonnahme got his first touchdown of the contest when he ran in a touchdown from 15-yards out. The scores kept coming for Kuemper with Taye Vonnahme running in another touchdown from three yards out and DJ Vonnahme connecting with Ben Gerken to give them the 42-6 lead at halftime.
The Kuemper defense also came up with plenty of big plays. They were able to get 10.5 total tackles for loss and with Evan Adams leading the team with six total tackles. MVAOCOU’s two touchdowns came from Ethan Kuhlmann running in a seven-yard touchdown and Titus Morley getting a kickoff return touchdown. In the second half, the Knights capped off their big offensive game with a 43-yard touchdown pass from Cooper Pottebaum to John Boes and Jace Hoffman with a big 29-yard touchdown run. The 10th ranked Knights start off the first half of the 2022 season 4-0 with a 55-12 win over the Rams.
Other stat leaders for the Knights include DJ Vonnahme who had three passing touchdowns for 102 yards and had six carries for 69 yards and a touchdown. Taye Vonnahme had four carries for 26 yards and two touchdowns. The Knights are on the road Friday when they take on West Monona.
