Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Coon Rapids Bayard Improves to 2-0 in Districts

Coon Rapids Bayard rallied for a big district road win on Friday, falling behind 14-0 before scoring the next 47 points in the 1st half to lead 47-14 at half. The Crusaders ran for 372 yards, averaging 6.6 yards per carry. Their dominance on the ground, allowed them to wear down the Tigers defense. They only threw the ball three times, completing all three for 73 yards and a touchdown. The Crusaders broke the game open with 40 points in the second quarter.

Woodbine hit on a couple pass plays in the 1st quarter, scoring from 40 and 26 yards. They led 14-0 with 6:19 left in the quarter. That is when Coon Rapids Bayard got their offense going, scoring on a 1-yard run by Wyatt Oswald, cutting the deficit to 14-7. That started the onslaught in the second quarter. Lance Clayburg scored from 30-yards, then recovered a fumble and scored from 26-yards. The Crusaders had grabbed their first lead but weren’t done yet. Clayburg scored his third straight touchdown, scoring from 5 yards. Omar Floyd added to the Crusaders lead with a 31-yard run before Clayburg scored twice more on runs of 42-yards and 4-yards.  The Crusaders led 47-14 at half.

Woodbine struck again to start the 3rd, their third touchdown pass of the game. Coon Rapids Bayard struck back when Lancy Clayburg found Kolby Culbertson for a 40-yard touchdown, late in the 3rd quarter. Woodbine added their fourth touchdown pass of the game. Lance Clayburg scored his final touchdown of the game midway through the fourth quarter on a 19-yard touchdown run.

Lance Clayburg finished with 216 yards rushing on 24 carries, averaging 9 yards per carry. Omarion Floyd ran for 83 yards on 10 carries and scored a touchdown and Wyatt Oswald scored a touchdown, finishing with 53 yards on 17 carries. Oswald was 2-2 passing for 33 yards while Clayburg went 1-1 with a 40 yard touchdown pass. Kolby Culbertson caught 1 pass for a 40 yard touchdown and Cal Heydon had the other 2 catches for 33 yards. Omarion Floyd led the defense with 6 tackles and Lance Clayburg added 5.5 tackles and a fumble recovery. Toby Benninger had a fumble recovery and Cal Heydon had an interception as the Crusaders forced three turnovers.

Coon Rapids Bayard improves to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in district play. They host undefeated West Harrison on Friday.
