South Central Calhoun was unable to get their passing game working like last season as they fell to Pocahontas Area Friday night.

The first half of the ball game solely belonged to the Titans as they got one touchdown in the first quarter and kept a 6-0 lead up until halftime. Gavin Batta threw for over 300 yards in last week’s game against East Sac, but the Indians were able to stop the passing game. So, the Titans switched schemes and went to their running game. Tyler Lightner was the Titan with the lone score for South Central Calhoun in that first quarter. In the second half, Pocahontas Area took over and put up 14 points in the third quarter and 16 in the fourth quarter. Indians Quarterback Lucas Kopriva threw for 100 yards and rushed for a touchdown while Ryan Sommerlot rushed for two touchdowns. Josiah DeYoung also had a punt return touchdown for Pocahontas Area as they came away with the 30-6 win over South Central Calhoun. Defensively, Waylen Gemberling led his team with 7.5 total tackles.

The Titans are on the road this week as they take on Emmetsburg.
