Both teams struggled with special teams, with Glidden Ralston unsuccessful with a two-point attempt and Coon Rapids Bayard missing the extra point attempt. The Wildcats made up for their missed two point attempt when John Whitver threw it to Mark Lensch for a six-yard touchdown and a successful two point attempt to end the first quarter with the 14-13 lead.
