St Mary’s advanced into Friday title game with a convincing win over Kingsley Pierson. They out hit them 10-3 with a pair of triples. The Hawks struck right away in the 1st inning, scoring 3-run. They built the lead to 6-0 going into the 5th and scored 4-runs to end the game, highlighted by a base clearing triple by Cael Ortmann. Kingsley Pierson loaded the bases in the 4th inning but didn’t score.
Kingsley Pierson got a runner to 1st on an error in the top 1st inning but couldn’t take advantage. That set up a big bottom of the 1st for St Mary’s, Carter Schorg tripled on the tenth pitch of his at-bat and scored when Jaxon Bunkers singled to right-centerfield. Cael Ortmann walked, and Hunter Pick was hit-by-pitch to load the bases with no outs. Alex Schroeder lifted a deep fly to right field to score Brody Schorg, who was running for Bunkers putting St Mary’s up 2-0. Collin Homan reached on an error, scoring Ortmann and they lead 3-0 after the 1st inning. Boston Doeschot singled and stole 2nd and 3rd but was thrown out trying to return to 3rd base on a failed double steal in the top 2nd and Kingsley Pierson had two runners on but didn’t score.
Carter Schorg started a one out rally in the bottom of the 2nd with a single, Jaxson Bunkers followed with a single. Cael Ortmann and Alex Schroeder both singled to score Carter Schorg and Brody Schorg who ran for Bunkers. St Mary’s extended the lead to 5-0 after 2 innings. Brandon Kron singled and Jackson Howe and Ben Bubke both walked but the Panthers left the bases loaded top 4th. The top of the St Mary’s lineup continued to be a problem in the bottom 4th. Carter Schorg waked and scored on a double to deep right-center by Jaxson Bunkers, making it 6-0. Cael Ortman was hit-by-pitch and Hunter Pick walked to load the bases. Kingsley Pierson brought in Damon Schmid as the new pitcher. He struck out 2 batters and induced a ground ball to 3rd for a force out and the Hawks left the bases loaded. Scoring one run with no outs. They lead 6-0.
St Mary’s loaded the bases with 1 out and Cael Ortmann tripled to left field to extend the lead to 9-0. Hunter Pick grounded to the shortstop and Ortmanm was able to score from 3rd to end the game.
Carter Schorg had a pair of hits with a triple and scored 3 times. Jaxson Bunkers added 3 hits and 2 runs batted in. Cael Ortmann added a triple as one of his 2 hits with a team high 4 RBI along with scoring twice. Alex Schroeder had 2 RBI. Brody Schorg scored 3 runs. Jaxon Bunkers picked up the win going all 5 innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out 2.
Conner Belner, Boston Doeschot and Brandon Kron all singled for Kingsley Pierson.
St Mary’s improves to 35-0 and await the winner of New London Vs Newman Catholic in Friday’s Championship game at Noon. Kingsley Pierson ends their season at 27-5.
