The Merchants came out swinging, picking up three hits to help them score 2-runs in the 1st inning. The quick start helped them pick up their fifth straight win as they begin to separate themselves from Des Moines for 3rd place in the North Division, which would get them into the playoffs. The Merchants finished with 8 hits, out hitting the Peak 8 to 3. Morgan Smith made his second straight strong start on the hill, throwing a complete game and only getting in trouble a couple times in the game. The Merchants scored in every inning but the 2nd.

The Merchants scored a pair of runs in the 1st inning, with the first scoring on a ground ball to the shortstop by Kaleb Freeman, scoring Andrew Schroeder. Michael Alt was stealing 2nd on the play which pulled the shortstop towards the bag and had to turn and go towards 3rd base. He got back to the ball, but was unable to make the play and Freeman reached on the error. Seth Christiansen doubled a couple pitches later, scoring Alt and the Merchants led 2-0. Kyle Berg picked up the first of his two hits in the 3rd inning, driving in Jordan Mattewson. The Merchants added a run in the 4th on a RBI single by Kaleb Freeman, scoring Alt for the second time. Alt walked in the 5th, scoring Kyle Berg. Kaleb Freeman scored in the 6th and later Jordan Matthewson stole home on a double steal for their final run of the game.

Michael Alt and Kyle Berg each had a pair of hits, with Alt scoring twice and driving in a run and Berg scoring once and driving in a run. Andrew Schroeder and Seth Christiansen both doubled, Schroeder scored a run and Christensen added an RBI. Kaleb Freeman had 2 RBI and Jordan Matthewson scored twice. Morgan Smith was strong on the hill, going all 7 innings, allowing 3 hits while striking out 7.

The Merchants had a chance to further distance themselves from the Peak in game two but allowed 5-runs over the final two innings to have the game slip away. Both teams finished with 9 hits and 2 errors but the Peak, took advantage of their opportunities. Both teams scored a pair of runs in the 1st inning, and were tied at 3-3 after 3 innings. Carroll took the lead with a 2-run 4th inning, then added a run in the 5th but that would be the last time they scored. They had a chance to score in the 7th, with Jordan Matthewson walking to lead off the inning but he was throw out at 2nd base on a base hit by Danny Schweitzer, who  moved to 2nd on the play but was stranded their when the inning ended. The Peak had a big 6th innings, collecting 4 hits and taking advantage of a Merchants error, scoring 4-runs.

Parker Ingram got the Merchants on the board in the 1st inning with a solo home run. Kaleb Freeman tied the game, scoring on a Peak error. Ingram continued his big game, doubling in the 3rd inning to score Michael Alt. Ingram would pick up another RBI in he 4th, walking to score Noah Dutler, Kaleb Freeman then walked to score Jacob Rochester. Danny Schweitzer doubled to left field, scoring Noah Buss to put the Merchants up 6-3.

Parker Ingram, Michael Alt and Danny Schweitzer all had 2 hits with Ingram homering and doubling. He added 2 RBI and scored once. Schweitzer doubled, driving in a run. Ryan Riddle threw 5 innings, allowing 5 hits and 5 earned runs with 5 strikeouts. Pete Weil went 2 innings, allowing 4 hits and 3 earned runs.

The Merchants are 16-13 on the season and will host Chillicothe on Friday.
