It was a good start for Audubon on Saturday but not a good finish as the Wheelers led 3-0 before giving up 10-runs over the final 3 innings. Audubon collected two of their four hits in the game in the 1st inning and only had 1 hit after the 2nd inning. They got a good start from Braden Wessel who left the mound leading 3-0 after 3 innings. The Wheelers scored in the bottom 5th to regain the lead but AHSTW answered with a 4-run 6th, then put the game away with 3-runs in the 7th inning.

Aaron Olsen led off the bottom 1st with a single and eventually scored on a ground ball from Gavin Larsen that was thrown away. Gavin Smith had walked after Olsen and he came in to score on the play, giving Audubon a 2-0 lead. Larsen moved to 2nd on the error and scored on an RBI single by Evan Alt. Braden Wessel was pretty sharp through 3 innings, allowing 2 hits while striking out 5. He hit the first batter of the game, then walked the next guy to put runners on 1st and 2nd but struck out the next two batters and induced a ground ball to end the inning, He fanned two more in the 2nd inning and started a nifty 1-6-3 double play in the 3rd. Audubon committed 4 errors and allowed 2 hits by Stanton in the 5th as the Vikings scored 3 times to tie the game. Gavin Smith had a one out single in the bottom of the 5th, stole 2nd base and moved to 3rd on a ground out. He stole home to give the Wheelers the lead at 4-3. Audubon had one base runner the rest of the game. The Vikings picked up a pair of hits and were aided by the Wheelers sixth error of the game in scoring 4-runs in the 6th.

Aaron Olsen finished with a team high 2 hits, while Gavin Smith and Evan Alt had the Wheelers other 2 hits. Smith scored twice while Olsen and Gavin Larsen each scored once. Larsen added a pair of RBI. Braden Wessel threw 3 innings, allowing 2 hits and no runs while striking out 5.

Ar-We-Va vs IKM-Manning At Kingsley

IKM-Manning        7

Ar-We-Va               3

The IKM-Manning will move on in the Class 1A District 16 playoff brackets as they were able to knock off Ar-We-Va with some solid pitching from Max Neilsen and hitting late.

It was a nice pitcher battle early between Nielsen and Conner Kirsch. Nielsen got his night started with four strikeouts in the first two innings while Kirsch threw consistently and allowed the defense behind him to make solid plays. The Rockets were first on the board as they got two home in the third inning. Wyatt Ragaller got a single and stole second base and Will Ragaller brought him home with a big RBI triple. Will Ragaller was later brought home off a sac bunt, RBI from Conner Kirsch.

The momentum shift from the Wolves came in the fourth inning when Nielsen pitched a nearly perfect inning. He was one pitch long from a perfect nine pitch, three strikeout inning, but he got three strikeouts in 10 pitches. Then, the next batter up for IKM-Manning in the bottom of the fourth inning was Nielsen who rocketed off a double. That shift in focus allowed the Wolves to grab the lead at 4-2. Reed Hinners was also part of that push as he got an RBI single. After both teams went scoreless in the fifth, IKM-Manning got their bats going again and got three across home plate. Treyton Barry got his first hit of the game that ended up being a two RBI single to lead the game at 7-2.

Conner Kirsch was able to last six innings on the hill, and he pitched well only allowing three earned runs off eight hits and recording five strikeouts. Ar-We-Va had a good inning going into the seventh when Will Ragaller hit a single with two outs. Cooper Kock knocked a deep ball to score Will Ragaller off an RBI triple. Despite a nice momentum shift, a flyout to Ben Ramsey at second base was able to seal the win for IKM-Manning as they won 7-3.

Ar-We-Va’s season will come to an end with a final record of 6-12 overall. The win improved IKM-Manning to 10-13 overall and advanced to the second round of the Class 1A District 16 playoff where they will take on Kingsley Pierson on Tuesday, July 5th.
