Kuemper clinched second place in the Hawkeye 10 Conference with a hard fought win, that saw them jump out early, lose the momentum and regain it late. The Knights led 4-0 after the 1st inning as their offense came out humming, picking up 4 hits and using a pair of Glenwood errors. Kamryn Venner was also strong in the circle. She did allow a pair of hits in the 1st and 3rd innings but didn’t allow any runs. She struck out 3 batters in the 1st and 2nd innings and had 1 more in the 3rd. She ended each of the first three innings with a strikeout. The Knights extended the lead with a run in the 2nd but didn’t score again until the 6th. Glenwood gained momentum in the 4th scoring 3-runs benefited by a Knight error and 3 hits. They tied the game in the top of the 6th with a pair of unearned runs. Kuemper grabbed the lead back in the bottom half and then made two tremendous defensive plays in the top 7th to end the game with Glenwood, having a runner on 2nd base.
Hailey Ostrander homered on the third pitch of the bottom 1st inning, putting Kuemper ahead 1-0. The Knights added three more runs when Melinda Schaefer reached on an error, Kenzie Schon singled to score a run, Kenadee Loew doubled, driving in a run and Kaylie Diercksen singled to score the final run. Kaci Peter led off the 2nd inning with a single, stole 2nd base and scored on a ground ball by Melinda Schaefer. Glenwood opened the 4th inning with a pair of singles, then got a walk to lead the bases. After a strikeout, McKenna Wilckes singled to drive in a pair of runs. A sac fly drove in the third run of the inning. In the 5th inning, the Rams got back-to-back base hits, then the Knights made a pair of errors to allow 2-runs score to tie the game. Kamryn Venner led off the bottom of the 6th with a single, then stole 2nd base and scored on a single back up the middle by Hailey Ostrander. The Knights led 6-5 heading into the 7th. Sara Kolle singled for Glenwood but was forced out at 2nd base for the 1st out. Jordan Schwabe made an incredible catch on a foul ball bunt attempt, diving into the right handed batters box to make the catch for the 2nd out. A Glenwood single put runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. Wilckes was up again for the Rams and hit a fly ball up the middle that looked like it would drop in behind 2nd base, but Melinda Schaefer made a great running catch, reaching out as far as she could for the game ending out.
Kenadee Loew led the Kuemper offense with 3 of the Knights 10 hits. She had an double and an RBI. Hailey Ostrander and Kenzie Schon both had 2 hits with Ostrander homering in the 1st inning and driving in the winning run in the 6th. Schon added an RBI and scored once. Kaylie Diercksen had an single and RBI and Kamryn Venner and Kaci Peter both singled and scored. Venner went the distance in the circle, allowing 10 hits but striking out 12. She allowed on 1 earned runs.

Kuemper made 8 errors allowing 9 unearned runs but their offense bailed them out with 15 hits, scoring 12 wins in a 12 to 9 win. Kuemper trailed 7-2 after the 2nd inning, then began to chip away. They scored 3-runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, then took the lead for good with a 5-run 4th inning. The Knights added a pair of runs in the 5th and then held off a Ram rally in the 7th, holding them to 2-runs.
Kamryn Venner doubled to start the Kuemper rally in the 4th inning. Kaci Peter followed that with a single, setting up Hailey Ostrander who singled to score Venner and Peter. Melinda Schaefer singled to score Ostrander. Kenzie Schon and Kaylie Diercksen both had singles helping to score Schaefer and Schon. Kenadee Loew had an RBI ground out. Hailey Ostrander reached on an error and Melinda Schaefer singled in the 5th. Both scored on a triple by Jordan Schwabe, putting Kuemper ahead 12-7.
The two wins improved Kuemper to 21-13 overall and 16-4 in the Hawkeye 10. They head to the Carlisle Tournament on Saturday and are scheduled to play Van Meter and Carlisle.

East Sac had one bad inning, allowing 6-runs in the bottom of the 5th. Until then they had played right with Pocahontas Area, taking a 5-4 lead in the top of the 5th. The Raiders out hit the Indians 10 to 8 but stranded a runner at 3rd base in the 6th inning and the bases loaded in the 7th inning.
Emersyn Mack doubled and scored for the Raiders in the 1st inning, scoring on a single by Meredith Brown. They added two more in the 3rd inning. Mack again jump started the offense with a single and scored on a Brown double. Brown would also come in to score in the 3rd, tying the game at 3. A 2-run 5th inning gave the Raiders the lead. Mary Bontrager and Meredith Brown both singled and scored on a double by Maci Gustavson. Emersyn Mack doubled with 2-outs in the 6th but was stranded at 3rd base. Meredith Brown and Maci Gustavson were hit-by-pitch in the 7th and Jamie Pierce walked but the Raiders weren’t able to get a hit to score any runs, leaving the bases loaded.
Emersyn Mack and Meredith Brown both had 3 hits for the Raiders with Mack doubling twice and scoring twice. Brown doubled once, drove in a pair of runs and scored twice. Mary Bontrager had a pair of hits and scored and Maci Gustavson doubled driving in 2-runs.
The Raiders end the regular season 5-12 and will travel to MVAOCOU on Wednesday in Class 1A Region 3 post season action.

Coon Rapids Bayard clinched a tie for 3rd place in the Rolling Valley, dropping Glidden Ralston into a tie for 5th place. The Crusaders got a great pitching performance from Emma Hart and used a big 6th inning to put the game away. They led 5-1 heading into the 6th before scoring 6-runs. Glidden Ralston had a chance to tie for 4th place in the conference with a win, but were held to 2 hits in dropping their third game out of their last four games. The Crusaders scored once in the 1st inning, added 2 more in the 2nd and 4th innings. Glidden Ralston scored their lone run in the 2nd inning.
Emma Hart led the Crusaders at the plate and in the circle. She had 3 hits, including a double and scored twice. Hart earned the win in the circle, allowing 2 hits and 1 earned run with 5 strikeouts. Anna Hart, Kadey Olson and Bridget Shirbroun all had 2 hits. Hart finished with 3 RBI while Olson and Shirbroun both scored once. Lydia Hofbauer drove in 2-runs.
Elizabeth Lloyd and Ashlynn Tigges both had doubles for the Wildcats. Vanessa Koehler took the loss, allowing 10 hits and 4 earned runs in 5 2/3 innings.
Coon Rapids Bayard improved to 13-11 overall and 10-6 in the RVC. They will host the winner of the Boyer Valley At Glidden Ralston post season game on Wednesday. Glidden Ralston falls to 9-10 overall and 8-8 in the RVC. They host Boyer Valley on Friday in the opening round of the post season.

Audubon managed 5 hits and allowed 8 hits but the Tigers scored 10-runs to end the game in the 6th inning. The Wheelers got a pair of doubles with Addie Hocker and Kylie Hartl picking up one each. The defense struggled, allowing 6 unearned runs. Griswold scored a pair of runs in the 2nd inning and in the 5th inning while scoring 3-runs in the 4th inning and 3 more in the 6th to end the game.
Jordan Porsch, Kylee Hartl, Addie Hocker, Jordan Mulford and Mattie Nielsen all had hits for the Wheelers. Alexis Obermeier took the loss, going 5 1/3 innings, allowing 8 hits and 4 earned runs.
The Wheelers fall to 11-13 overall. They host West Harrison on Friday in the opening round of the Class 1A post season.

IKM-Manning had a game slip away on Wednesday night, jumping ahead 4-0 in the 1st inning. They did a great job of manufacturing runs, finishing with six stolen bases and two sacrifices. The Wolves only had one hit but walked four times and were able to score 5-runs because of their aggressive play. They led 5-2 heading into the 5th inning. The Rams scored 4 times in the 5th, using some Wolves errors to take the lead at 6-5. They added a run in both the 6th and 7th innings.
Taylor Beckendorf had the lone hit for IKM-Manning. Jessica Christensen, Anna Stangl, Alikxa McGinn, Beckendorf and Bailee Germer all scored a run. Hannah McKinney had the lone RBI. Ella Richards took the loss, allowing 11 hits and 3 earned runs.
The Wolves ended the regular season at 2-16 and will host Lawton Bronson on Friday in the first round of the post season on 93.7 KKRL.
