Boone At Carroll

Boone only had 7 hits and Carroll made just 1 error, allowing 2 unearned runs but the Toreadors were able to score 13 runs in the first five innings to top the Tigers. Carroll managed just 2 hits and had only four baserunners for the game. Boone scored 4 times in the 1st inning, then added 5 more in the 2nd inning. Carroll settled in more on the mound, holding the Toreadors to just 1-run over the next two innings but Boone was able to score 3 more in the top of the 5th.

Cooper Ludwig and Nolan Mohr both singled for Carroll and Stone Sibenaller walked. Ryan North pitched an inning, allowing no hits with no walks.

The loss drops Carroll to 1-21 overall and 0-13 in the Raccoon River Conference. They host Harlan on Tuesday.

Kuemper advanced two runners to 3rd base but weren’t able score either of them as the bats were held to three hits. Kuemper had five players get on base, one in the 1st inning, two in the 3rd and 4th innings. They stranded three runners in scoring position. After stranding a guy at 3rd in the 1st inning, Clarinda took charge in the 3rd with 6-runs as they sent twelve batters to the plate. They added 2 more in the 4th, then scored solo runs in both the 5th and 6th inning to end the game.

Carter Putney doubled in the 1st inning and Benicio Lujano singled in the 4th inning while Max Irlmeier singled in the 3rd inning for Kuemper. Kuemper threw four pitchers and they combined to allow 9 hits, 10 runs with 7 of them earned. They struck out 3.

The pair of losses drops Kuemper to 15-14 overall and 7-10 in the Hawkeye 10. The Knights travel to Denison Schleswig on Tuesday.

Kuemper  scored a run in the 1st inning, but didn’t score again until the 7th. They left 7 guys on base and collected 4 hits. Clarinda also  had 4  hits but found a way to score a run in the 1st, 3rd and 4th inning, taking advantage of a triple in the 1st inning, a sac bunt and walk in the 3rd and a Kuemper error in the 4th.

Logan Sibenaller was hit-by-pitch in the 1st inning, stole 2nd base and scored on a double by Carter Putney. Koby Lampman and Logan Sibenaller had back to back singles in the 2nd but were stranded at 1st and 2nd base. Logan Sibenaller and Tristan Janson walked in the 5th, Trevor Rial reached on an error in the 5th but the Knights couldn’t squeeze in a run. Koby Lampman led off the 7th with a single and scored on a line out by Cal Wanninger.

Koby Lampman led the Knights with a pair of hits, Logan Sibenaller each had a hit with Putney doubling. Putney and Cal Wanninger each had an RBI and Lampman and Sibenaller scored. Tate Bieret went 5 innings, allowing 4 hits and 1 earned run with 4 strikeouts.

South Central Calhoun walked 8 and hit 4, helping Emmetsburg score 9-runs, though the Titans held them to 4 hits. The Titans finished with 5 hits and stretched some runs together in the 3rd, scoring 3 times to pull within 5-3. Emmetsburg pulled away late, scoring 3-runs in the 6th and 1 more in the 7th. They built their lead with a 4-run 2nd inning.

Kaden Dorman led the Titans with 2 hits, including a double. He drove in 2-runs. Andrew Anderson, Charlie Nattress and Jacob Kalkwarf all had a base hit. The Titans were able to work out 5 walks. Cody Thompson went 5 innings on the hill, allowing 4 earned runs on 1 hit.

Glidden Ralston had a one run lead in the 7th and 8th inning but Whiting scored once in the bottom 7th and twice in the bottom of the 8th to win a game that went back and forth most of the game. Whiting jumped out early, leading 5-1 after 2 innings. Glidden Ralston rallied scoring 3-times in the 3rd and 3 more in the 4th inning to go up 7-5. Whiting pulled within a run, scoring once in the 5th, then tied the game with a run in the 6th. Glidden Ralston went back up with a run in the 7th but couldn’t hold on and Whiting tied it to send it to extra innings. The Wildcats were outhit 12 to 7 but did have four extra base hits.

Jackson Sklenar had a pair of triples and drove in 3-runs while scoring once. Jonathan Bergmeier and Tyler Brant both doubled. Bergmeier drove in a pair of runs and scored twice while Brant had an RBI and scored twice. Caden Wenck had a pair of hits. Colby Wallace went 5 innings, allowing 7 hits but only 3 earned runs with 6 strikeouts.

The Wildcats  fall to 3-17 overall and 3-13 in the RVC. They travel to Woodbury Central on Saturday for the opening round of the post season.

Conner Kirsch pitched well and Ar-We-Va rallied in the middle innings to take a lead but couldn’t hold on as they lose another one run game this season. An untimely error in the top 6th with two outs, helped West Harrison scored a couple of unearned runs, grabbing a 10-9 lead. The Rockets had a chance in the bottom 7th with Jonathan Dose singling but he was stranded on base.  Defensive miscues cost the Rockets 7-runs in the game as West Harrison scored 5 times in the first-two innings with only one run earned. The Rockets rallied for 3 in the 3rd, then scored 5 in the 4th to take the lead. Ar-We-Va finished with 9 hits, allowing 10 hits.

Will Ragaller, Cooper Kock and Timothy Dose all had 2 hits. Kock tripled, drove in a pair of runs and scored twice. Ragaller drove in a pair of runs and scored twice. Wade Ragaller doubled and had an RBI. Wyatt Ragaller scored a pair of runs. Conner Kirsch went 6 innings, allowing 10 hits and 3 earned runs. He struck out 9.

The Rockets fall to 5-12 overall and 4-11 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Riverside on Tuesday.

CAM Anita Vs Coon Rapids Bayard- Completion of suspended game from June 7th

The Crusaders had built a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom 3rd at CAM Anita on June 7th when a storm suspended the game. CAM Anita traveled to Coon Rapids Bayard for a regularly scheduled game on Monday and the two teams finished the suspended game first. The Cougars struck quick with 4-runs in the bottom 4th and never looked back. They held the Crusaders to 1-run, that coming in the 7th as the two teams would finish game one tied for the top spot in the conference. Coon Rapids Bayard won the hitting battle 7-6.

Lance Clayburg, Gabe Obert and Cal Heydon all had 2 hits with Obert doubling, scoring a run and driving in a run. Clayburg scored twice and Heydon had an RBI. Coon Rapids Bayard pitched three guys with them combining to allow 7 hits, 7 earned runs while striking out 4 in 6 innings.

The Crusaders allowed 5-runs in the 2nd inning and never fully recovered as they fall a game behind CAM Anita in the Rolling Valley Conference. Gabe Obert tripled in the 3rd inning, driving in a pair of runs, and Preston McAlister had a sac fly to pull them within 5-3 but CAM Anita answered with 2-runs in the top 4th inning. The Cougars scored a run in the top 6th to stretch the lead to 8-3 but the Crusaders tried again to rally. Cal Heydon had a 3-run double in the 6th, pulling the Crusaders within 8-6. Lane Spieker hit his second home run of the game, an inside the park, grand slam home run in the top 7th, putting the game out of reach. The Crusaders were able to score a run in the 7th but fell 12-7. Spieker finished with a pair of home runs and 6 RBI for CAM Anita. They out hit the Crusaders 11-6.

Cal Heydon had a team high 3 hits for Coon Rapids Bayard, driving in 4-runs to go with double.  Gabe Obert tripled, driving in a pair of runs and scored once. Tanner Oswald and Easton Hays both had a hit and scored a run. Preston McAlister pitched 6 innings, allowing 7 hits and 6 earned runs with 6 strikeouts.

The loss dropped Coon Rapids Bayard to 21-6 overall and 14-2 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They are a game behind CAM Anita in the conference race. They will look to break a 3-game losing streak at Alta-Aurelia on Tuesday.

Audubon let a game slip away in the 7th inning, with some walks and defensive miscues allowing Bedford score 3 times in the top 7th. The Wheelers out hit Bedford 8 to 1 but weren’t able to take advantage. The Wheelers scored a run in the 2nd inning to take a 1-0 lead, but didn’t score again until the 6th, when they tied the game up at 2. Bedford tied the game in the 3rd, then took the lead with a run in the 5th. Audubon scored a run in the 6th to tie the game again. Cooper Nielsen was strong on the hill, allowing 1 hit and no earned runs with 7 strikeouts in 5 innings.

Audubon had three guys with 2 hits each, Gavin Larsen had a triple as one of his 2 hits, scoring a run and he scored once. Aaron Olsen and Carson Meaike both had 2 hits. Alex Foran and Gavin Smith had the other hits.

The loss drops the Wheelers to 11-10 overall. They head to CAM Anita on Tuesday.
