Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Glidden Ralston and SCC Softball Fall on Wednesday

Glidden Ralston played really well, except in the 3rd inning when Boyer Valley used 3 hits, an error and a pair of walks to score 6-runs. The Wildcats fought hard, getting three straight singles in the 4th inning, scoring a run. They threatened in the 5th, 6th and 7th innings, leaving four runners on base. Both teams finished with 6 hits but Boyer Valley didn’t make any errors while Glidden Ralston had 3, leading to 4 unearned runs.

Jess O’Day started the Bulldogs run in the 3rd inning with a single, which was followed by a walk, error, single, two fielders choices an out, a walk, single and hit by pitch. In all they scored 6 times to take control of the game. Kassidy Wenck singled to start the 4th for Glidden Ralston and moved to 2nd base on a single by Elizabeth Lloyd. She scored on a single to right field by Ashlynn Tigges making it 6-1. The Wildcats left Grace Lensch at 3rd and Summer Toms on 2nd in the 4th. Vanessa Koehler led off the 5th with a double but was stranded at 3rd. Lloyd and Summer Toms got on base in the 6th. They  would be stranded. Koehler walked to start the 7th and stole 2nd base but was stranded there when the game ended.

Ashlynn Tigges led the Wildcats with a pair of hits and an RBI. Kassidy Wenck had a base hit and scored a run. Vanessa Koehler doubled while Elizabeth Lloyd and Summer Toms both had hits.

The Wildcats fall to 5-7 overall and 4-5 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Whiting on Thursday.

South Central Calhoun had 18 hits and received home runs from Keira Hammen and Evelyn Kramer in the 4th inning. They scored 12-runs and led 12-8 heading into the 7th inning. Pocahontas Area struck for 9-runs in 7th and ended up winning the high scoring affair. The Indians big 7th inning helped them finish with 19 hits. All nine Titan starters had at least one hit and four girls finished with three or more hits. The Titans big inning came in the 4th when Keira Hammen hit a grand slam home run and Evelyn Kramer added a 3-run home run. They added a pair of runs in the 5th and scored a single run in the 6th as well as the 2nd and 3rd innings. Pocahontas Area hung tough with 3-runs in the 2nd inning, and 4 more in the 6th to get within striking distance.

Emma Anderson had a team high 4 hits for the Titans with a double and scoring twice. Olivia Toms, Keira Hammen and Evelyn Kramer all  had 3 hits. Hammen had a grand slam home run and finished with 5 RBI. Kramer had a 3-run home run with 3 RBI and scored 3 times. Toms added a pair of RBI and scored once.

The Titans fall to 0-9 overall and 0-4 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They travel to East Sac on Friday.
