Boyer Valley At Ar-We-Va

It was a heart breaking loss for Ar-We-Va on Friday as the game slipped away late. The Rockets outplayed Boyer Valley through 5 innings and played even with them for 2 innings. They out hit the Bulldogs 12 to 8 but 7 errors with 5 of them coming in the final 2 innings put them behind heading into the bottom 7th. They nearly tied the game up and would have had a runner on 2nd but a play at the plate went in favor of the Bulldogs by a matter of inches. Ar-We-Va still had a runner on 2nd with one out but couldn’t drive in the tying run. Ar-We-Va left 12 runners on base.

Ar-We-Va Softball Vs Boyer Valley 6-10-2022

Boyer Valley scored in the top 1st but Ar-We-Va answered with a pair in their half. Maggie Ragaller reached on a fielders choice and Sophie Jackson singled to score her. Jackson scored two batters later with an RBI single by Emma Lieting. They extended the lead in the 4th with Kora Obrecht reaching on an error and Maggie Ragaller reached on a fielders choice. Sophie Jackson singled to score run and Delaney Schurke hit a sac fly into centerfield that scored Ragaller. Boyer Valley added an unearned run in the 5th, cutting it to 4-2. They took their first lead since the 1st inning, scoring 3-runs on 2  hits, helped out by 3 Rocket errors. Ar-We-Va responded in the 6th with Maggie Ragaller walking and scoring on a ground ball by Delaney Schurke. The game went to the 7th tied at 5 but Boyer Valley scored an unearned run to make it 6-5. Ar-We-Va battled back in the bottom 7th. Amber Ragaller singled and moved to 2nd on an error. Karime Sanchez singled and Ragaller tried to score from 2nd but was out at the plate by a few inches. Sanchez moved to 2nd on the play but the Rockets couldn’t muster another hit and fell 6-5.

Sophie Jackson, Jamie Hausman, Emma Lieting and Karime Sanchez all  had 2 hits with Jackson adding a pair of RBI. Delaney Schurke added an pair of RBI. Maggie Ragaller scored 3 times. Amber Ragaller took the loss but only allowed 3 earned runs and 8 hits.

The loss drops Ar-We-Va to 2-7 overall and 2-6 in the the Rolling Valley. They head to CAM Anita on Monday.

Carroll Vs Newell Fonda- OA-BCIG Tournament

Carroll opened up the Falcons tournament which wraps up Saturday with a tough late loss. It was a pitching and defensive battle early, with neither team scoring until the 4th inning. Carroll was able to take the led with Olivia Rowedder scoring after a Parker Adams walk  and a Camryn Schable sacrifice, that scored her. Newell Fonda responded in the top 5th, tying the score at 1. The Mustangs took their first lead with a run in the 6th and added 3 more in the 7th. The Mustangs out hit Carroll 14-1 but the Tigers did a nice job of  holding them to 5-runs.

Emma Kuhlmann had the lone Carroll hit. Olivia Rowedder scored and Camryn Schable had an RBI. Alyssa Brant took the loss giving up 10 hits and 1 earned runs in 5 innings.

Carroll falls to 7-9 and will play East Sac in Battle Creek on Saturday in the tournament.

East Sac Vs Denison Schleswig- OA-BCIG Tournament

The Raiders played well, picking up 13 hits and having the tying run on base in the 7th inning. They came up just short in falling in their opening game of the OA-BCIG Tournament. East Sac rallied after falling behind 2-0 and 6-3, scoring runs in the 4th and 5th inning. The Raiders bats began to come alive on Friday with eight different girls collecting a hit and five girls having a multi hit game.

The Monarchs scored a pair of runs in the 1st inning, then tied the game at 3 in the 2nd inning after the Raiders got 3 in the top 2nd. The Raiders got five straight singles in the 2nd from Jen Aschinger, Maci Gustavson, Jamie Pierce, Gracie Snyder and Emersyn Mack. Mack’s hit scored Anna McCollough and Addisen Ehler. The Monarchs went back ahead with a 3-run 3rd inning.  Jamie Pierce singled in the 4th and moved into scoring position on a single by Gracie Snyder who had an RBI in the 2nd inning. Thayer scored on a sacrifice from Emersyn Mack.  Aleisha Thayer singled in the 5th and scored on a single by Maci Gustavson pulling East Sac within in 1. Meredith Brown and Kami Ross singled in the 7th but the Raiders weren’t able to score.

Emersyn Mack, Meredith Brown, Maci Gustavson, Jamie Pierce and Gracie Snyder all had 2 hits with Mack finishing with 3 RBI. Maci Gustavson had  a double and an RBI. Addisen Ehler scored a pair of runs.

East Sac  falls to 2-5 and will play Carroll on Saturday in the tournament.

Glidden Ralston saw their two game winning streak come to an end as they struggled at the plate and a few late errors helped Woodbine open up their lead late. The Wildcats trailed 3-0 heading into the 6th but allowed 4-runs to put the game away.

Ashlynn Tigges, Summer Toms and Brenna Bowman all singled and Elizabeth Lloyd walked twice for the five baserunners for Glidden Ralston.

The loss drops them to 4-6 overall and 4-4 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They head to Manson NW Webster on Tuesday.

Coon Rapids Bayard blew it open with a 7-run 1st inning, picking up 11 hits with three triples and a double. They added ten RBI on their 12-runs scored. They put the game away with 5-runs in the 2nd inning. The defense and Emma Hart were on their game, with Hart allowing just 2 hits while striking out 3.

Emma Hart picked up 3 hits with 2 triples. She drove in 3-runs. Anna Hart doubled and tripled along with driving in 4-runs and scoring twice. Malia Clayburg picked up a pair of hits with 3 runs-batted-in. Breeley Clayburg and Miranda McClellan both scored twice.

The win moves the Crusaders to 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the Rolling Valley. They travel to Exira-EHK on Monday.

South Central Calhoun battled hard, picking up  9 hits, scoring 6-runs. They had seven different players with a hit, led by Kylee Schleisman with 3 hits and Keira Hammen with her first home run of the season. The Titans took the lead in the top 3rd inning with a pair of runs, but Emmetsburg answered with 4 in the bottom 3rd and led 6-3. They added a run in the 4th but South Central Calhoun fought back in the 5th with 3 more runs, trailing 7-6. Emmetsburg extended the lead with 4 in the 6th and held on in the 7th.

Keira Hammen hit a 2-run home run in the 3rd after Emma Anderson got on base to start the inning. Olivia Toms worked out a walk with one out in the 5th and Gracie Hungate followed with a single. Kylee Schleisman singled to score Toms, then Adlen Wheelock who ran for Hungate scored on an error. Mady Smidt drove in Schleisman to cut the deficit to 7-6.

The Titans fall to 0-8 on the season and will travel to Alta-Aurelia on Monday.

Audubon collected 5 hits in the loss, scoring their lone run in the 3rd inning. Their run in the 3rd, cut the deficit to 3 after AHSTW scored 4 times in the top half of the inning. The Vikings added another run in the 5th and 2 more in the 7th. Addie Hocker picked up the Wheelers RBI, driving in Hannah Thygesen from 3rd. Thygesen reached base with a line drive single to lead off the inning.

Thygesen led the Wheelers with 2 hits, Kali Irlmeier, Kylee Hartl and Jordan Mulford had the other base hits.

Audubon had a chance to get the split of the doubleheader but couldn’t hold a 6-0 lead and lost in extra innings when AHSTW got a walk off single with 2 outs in the bottom 8th inning. Audubon built an early lead, leading 6-0 after the 2nd inning. AHSTW began their rally in the 6th with a pair of runs, then tied the game in the 7th, scoring 4-runs.

Audubon went up 1-0 in the 1st inning, when Hannah Thygesen scored on a passed ball. They added 5-runs in the 2nd inning, highlighted by RBI singles by Jordan Porsch, Kylee Hartl, driving in a pair of runs, a RBI walk by Kali Irlmeier and Michelle Brooks reaching on an error, scoring Anna Larsen. They threatened to blow the game open in the 4th, getting two different players on base but stranding them both. AHSTW won the game in the 8th, getting their leadoff runner on with an error that allowed her to move to 2nd base. She advanced to 3rd on a fly out to centerfield and  then scored on a 2 out single.

The losses drop the Wheelers to 4-5 overall and 2-5 in the Western Iowa Conference. The Wheelers head to Riverside on Monday.

Kuemper’s bats came alive in the double header, finishing game 1 with 20 hits, including 2 home runs from Jordan Schwabe and 2 doubles from Kamryn Venner. All nine starters got a hit with six girls having multi hit games. Venner was also outstanding in the circle, allowing only 4 hits and 2 earned runs with 6 strikeouts. The Knights scored 10-runs in the 5th to end the game.

Jordan Schwabe doubled in the 1st inning, scoring Melinda Schaefer, helping Kuemper lead 2-0 after the 1st. Kuemper added a pair of runs in the 3rd and then scored 3 times in the 4th. The 5th inning started with a Hailey Ostrander single, leading to the first of two home runs by Jordan Schwabe. She hit a 2-run blast to score Ostrander, then added a three run home later in the inning. Alexis Diercksen doubling, followed by a double from Kamryn Venner that scored 2. The Knights sent 14 batters to the plate in the 5th inning.

Jordan Schwabe and Kamryn Venner both had 4 hits with Schwabe hit 2 home runs, driving in 6-runs and scoring 4 times. Venner had a pair of doubles, adding 3 RBI. Kenzie Schon finished with 3 hits, including a double. She scored 3 times. Melinda Schaefer, Hailey Ostrander and Kaylie Diercksen all had 2 hits. Schaefer scored 3 times, Ostrander scored twice and Diercksen cranked out a double. Kamryn Venner went all 5 innings, allowing 4 hits with 2 earned runs and striking out 6.

Kuemper won the second game of the doubleheader by the exact same score, but this time it took all 7 innings to finish off the win. The Knights scored 7-runs in the 4th inning, then added 7 more in the 7th. They sprinkled in a run in each of the first-three innings. The Knights finished with 16 hits, holding Red Oak to 7 hits. Kuemper had eight girls with a hit with seven of them with 2 or more hits. They added 12 RBI. Jordan Schwabe followed up her game 1 performance with a pair of doubles as the Knights had 5 doubles. Chloe Venteicher pitched well, picking up the win.

The Knights blew game 2 open in the 4th, scoring 7-runs. Kaylie Diercksen walked to start the inning, then Alexis Diercksen and Kamryn Venner singled. Melinda Schaefer singled to drive in a pair of runs. Jordan Schwabe doubled and Kenzie Schon singled before Kenadee Loew doubled. All three had an RBI. They scored 7 more times in the 7th. Kamryn Venner started the 7th with a single and Kaci Peter walked. Melinda Schaefer picked up another RBI with a single. Jordan Schwabe added another double to her day with an RBI. Kenzie Schon was intentionally walked, setting up a single by Kenadee Loew that drove in a run.

Melinda Schaefer led the Knights with 3 hits, along with 3 runs-batted-in and 3 runs scored. Jordan Schwabe, Kenzie Schon, Kenzie Schon, Kendadee Loew, Kaylie Diercksen, Alexis Diercksen and Kamryn Venner all had 2 hits. Schon had 3 RBI and Kaylie Diercksen scored 3 times. Hailey Ostrander, Jordan Schwabe, Kenzie Schon and Kamyn Venner all scored twice. Chloe Venteicher grabbed the win, allowing 7 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 6.

The Knights record is now 9-9 overall and they are 6-1 in the Hawkeye 10 and currently sit in 1st place in the league. They have won 6 straight. They head to Lewis Central for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
