West Bend Mallard at South Central Calhoun

South Central Calhoun bounced back from a loss earlier in the week with two gritty wins over West Bend Mallard Wednesday, which included the resumption of a suspended game from May.

In the makeup game, which resumed from the bottom of the third inning with the Titans down 12-8, South Central Calhoun was able to erase that four run deficit and came away with the 21-18 win. They put up six runs in the fourth and ended with a big seven run sixth inning to seal the deal. Charlie Nattress had a big game going 2-3 with three runs scored, two doubles, and three RBIs. Kaden Dorman was able to rattle off multiple RBIs as well, recording two while going 2-4 with two runs scored.

In the regularly scheduled game, The Titans took little time getting on the board in the first three innings, putting up four runs in the first, and three in the second and third innings to get up 10-2 after three innings of play. A big factor in South Central Calhoun’s big innings were stolen bases and solid at bats. Andrew Anderson ran the bases very well and put up four stolen bases, along with going 3-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Jayden Soard had some big hits as he went 3-4 with a triple and four RBIs. Kaden Dorman was able to have five at bats and went 4-5 with three runs scored and an RBI.

West Bend Mallard started to push back late in the game, starting with those two runs in the third inning and pushing back further with three runs in the fourth and four in the fifth inning. The Titans stood their ground in the bottom half of the fifth as they put up three runs to stay ahead of the Wolverines by a score of 13-9. After a scoreless sixth inning, the Wolverines continued their late-game push with a run scored to make it a 13-10 Titan lead. South Central Calhoun’s defense was resilient and was able to close out the game and win it 13-10.

South Central Calhoun improves to 4-4 overall on the season. They continue their week of competition as they take on Emmetsburg on Friday, June 10th.

East Sac battled hard from start to finish and were able to pick up their first win of the season as they traveled to GTRA Wednesday. The Raiders were able to capture and keep a lead from start to finish with little to no issues. They got up 2-0 to start the first inning and put two more runs on the board between the third and fourth innings, while keeping GTRA scoreless. The Titans started to push back against the Raiders as they got two runs scored in the sixth inning and cut down the East Sac lead to one with a run scored in the bottom of the seventh.
