Ridge View At Kuemper

Kuemper and Kamryn Venner had no hit Ridge View through 5 innings but hadn’t been able to take advantage on offense, finding themselves tied at 0. The Knights left a runner on base in the 1st, 3rd, 4th inning (on 3rd base) and 5th inning. Then had a chance to tie or take the lead in the 6th, after giving up a run in the top  half, they loaded the bases with Melinda Schaefer reaching on an error, Jordan Schwabe reaching on an error, Kenzie Schon reaching on an fielders choice where Schwabe was forced at 2nd base and Kenadee Loew singling. Ridge View blew the game open with 6-runs in the top 7th, picking up 5 straight hits including a home run to start the inning. They finished the inning with 7 hits with 5 of them extra bases.

Hailey Ostrander paced the Knights with a pair of hits, including a double. Jordan Schwabe, Kenadee Loew and Alexis Diercksen all had singles. Kamryn Venner took the loss, going 6 innings, allowing 5 hits and 3 earned runs with 8 strikeouts.

The loss drops Kuemper to 3-5. They head to Atlantic to play Atlantic and ELC on Friday.

Carroll falls to 3-6 overall and 0-5 in the Raccoon River Conference, dropping their third straight. The Tigers picked up a pair of hits in the loss with Brielle Hinners and Parker Adams both singling.

Carroll heads to Denison Schleswig on Friday.

Coon Rapids Bayard At Audubon

Both teams  hits the ball well with Audubon outhitting the Crusaders 11-9. The Wheelers took advantage of their base runners, using aggressive baserunning and three doubles to put together big innings. Coon Rapids Bayard finished with 9 singles, leaving 10 runners on base. Alexis Obermeier did a nice job of pitching out of trouble after the 1st inning, finishing with 6 strikeouts. Coon Rapids Bayard took the lead early with a pair of runs in the 1st inning, then held Audubon scoreless in the bottom half, though Hannah Thygesen reached 3rd base. The Wheelers got rolling in the 2nd inning, picking up 4 hits and using a Crusaders error to score 5 times. They would never trail again. Audubon scored 4 more times in the 3rd inning and put another 4 spot on the board in the 4th inning.

Emma Hart ripped a shot down the 1st base line to lead off the game, scoring the 1st run of the game on a Wheeler error. Lacie Davis followed the Hart single with her own base hit and scored their second run of the game on a groundout by Breeley Clayburg. Audubon responded in the 2nd inning. Addie Hocker lead off with a single, followed by an RBI single by Victoria Asmus, a walk to Alexis Obermeier, Michelle Brooks was hit-by-pitch, Mattie Nielsen had a sac fly to score a run. Hannah Thygesen singled to score a pair of runs and Kali Irlmeier drove in a run to make it 5-2. The Wheelers added to their lead in the 3rd as Asmus leadoff with a single, Obermeier walked, Michelle Brooks reached on a fielders choice, Hannah Thygesen doubled to score 2 and Jordan Porsch picked up an RBI on a shot up the middle that bounced off Emma Hart in the circle to shortstop Miranda McClellan who made the play at 3rd base. Addie Hocker started the next offensive push for Audubon in the 4th after Kadey Olson made a great defensive play on a shot down the 3rd place line to rob Kali Irlmeier of a hit, Hocker singled and Asmus reached on a fielders choice, Michelle Brooks singled and Mattie Nielsen would double to score 2. Hannah Thygesen picked up RBI numbers 5 and 6 for the game with a shot down the 3rd base line.

Hannah Thygesen went 3-3 for the Wheelers with 6 RBI, a pair of doubles and scored twice. Victoria Asmus added 3 hits, Addie Hocker had a pair of hits, Michelle Brooks scored 3 times and Mattie Nielsen finished with 3 RBI. Alexis Obermeier got the win, going 5 innings, allowing 9 hits and 2 earned runs with 6 strikeouts.

Emma Hart went 3-3 for Coon Rapids Bayard and scored twice. Lacie Davis added a hit and drove in a run. Hart took the loss in the circle, going 4 innings, giving up 10 hits and striking out 5.

The Wheelers improve to 3-1 and will host Missouri Valley Friday while Coon Rapids Bayard falls to 3-2 and hosts Woodbine on Friday.

OA-BCIG At East Sac

This will have to go down as one of the strangest softball games in state history. East Sac battled from down 15-2 heading into the bottom 3rd to lead 16-15 after 5 innings, then lost 28-18, giving up 9-runs in the 6th inning and 4 more in the 7th inning.  East Sac collected 18 hits on the night and had four players with multiple hits and 6 of their hits went for extra bases.

The Raiders defense struggled in the 1st inning and put them in a hole they didn’t look like they could recover from. They trailed 11-0 but were able to push a pair of runs across in the bottom half. The Falcons responded with 3 more runs in the 2nd inning and were up 14-2 going bottom 2nd. After East Sac didn’t score OA-BCIG added a run in the 3rd. East Sac came alive in the 3rd and took momentum, picking up 5-runs to pull within 15-7. They tied it in the 4th with an 8-run inning, then grabbed the lead an inning later when Maci Gustavson walked to start the inning and scored on an error off a ball from Kami Ross. The Raiders lead didn’t last long as the Falcons responded with 9-runs in the 6th.

The loss drops the Raiders to 1-2. The Raiders travel to Alta-Aurelia on Friday.

IKM-Manning offense came alive in the middle of the game, helping them pick up their first win of the season. The Wolves were down 1-0 going into the 3rd inning but entered the 4th, up 3-1. The Wolves finished with 6 hits, with most of those coming in the 3rd-5th inning, when they combined to score all 6-runs.

Alikxa McGinn had the big hit in the rally, scoring a pair of runs as she finished up with one hit. Taylor Beckendorf, Carlee Neil, Lauren Greving, Ella Richards and Hannah McKinney all joined McGinn with a hit. Greving drove in a run and scored a run. Ella Richards picked up the win with 7 innings of 8 hit ball, allowing no earned runs while striking out 4.

The Wolves improve to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the WIC. They host LoMa on Friday.

The Rams took control early with 3-runs in the 1st inning, then 2 more in the 3rd to make it 6-1. Elizabeth Lloyd picked up an RBI, scoring Summer Toms in the 3rd for Glidden Ralston. Janssen had a double among her two hits.

The Rockets took a 3-1 in the 1st inning with RBI singles from Sophie Jackson, Delaney Schurke and Emma Leiting. River Valley responded in the 2nd inning with 7-runs and Ar-We-Va wasn’t able to recover. Ar-We-Va only collected one more hit the rest of the game but did a nice job of walking or being hit-by-pitch. The Rockets scored a pair of runs in the 5th inning, making it 10-5 but River Valley answered with 4 in the 6th.

Delaney Schurke had a team high 2 RBI and Maggie Ragaller and Kora Obrecht both scored twice. Sophie Jackson and Emma Leiting each had an RBI.

The loss drops the Rockets to 0-5. They are off until Monday when they travel to West Harrison.

The Titans scored three times in the 3rd inning but Ogden answered with 7 in the bottom half to end the game in 3 innings. South Central Calhoun finished with a pair of hits, including a double from Keira Hammen who finished with 3 RBI. Haylee Wiederin had their other hit.

The loss drops them to 0-4. The Titans will host Sioux Central on Friday on 93.7 KKRL.
