Carroll At Carlisle

It was a tough night for Carroll after Sterling Rodman drove in Evan Loew in the 1st inning, Carlisle scored 11 straight runs to end the game with 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th. Carroll finished with 3 hits and walked 4 times. The Wildcats finished with 10 hits and scored 7 earned runs. Carroll finished with 3 errors, allowing 4 unearned runs.

Sterling Rodman had an RBI single, Ethan Loew and Ryan North both had base hits. Dreylen Schweitzer took the loss on the mound.

Carroll falls to 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the Raccoon River Conference. They will play against AC-GC on Friday at Walt Anderson Field.

The Knights got exactly what they needed on Thursday in more ways then one. They bounced back after a rough performance on Wednesday, got off to a quick start, then held on to pick up the win. Kuemper scored 4 times in the 1st inning, adding a run in the 3rd and 4th innings, then held on as Ridge View tried to rally in the 7th. Nate Heinrichs replaced Carter Putney, who pitched very well in the 7th and was able to close the door with runners on 2nd and 3rd.

Ridge View scored in the top 1st inning, thanks to a double, followed by two walks and a hit-by-pitch in the first four batters. Kuemper answered with a pair of walks to start the bottom 1st inning, then a triple by Cal Wanninger, scoring Benicio Lujano. Cooper Pottebaum flew out to center, scoring another run and Kuemper was up 4-1 after the 1st. Both teams scored a run in the 3rd and 4th innings as the Knights maintained their 3 run lead. Cal Wanninger, who had his best offensive game of the season, lead off the 3rd for Kuemper with a single and scored on ground out by Max Irlmeier. In the 4th, Carter Putney tripled with 2 outs, then scored when Logan Sibenaller reached on an error. The Knights didn’t get another baserunner but held on as Ridge View put three straight guys on base in the 7th. After a leadoff groundout to 1st base, the Raptors went single, hit-by-pitch, single to score a run and had runners on 2nd and 3rd. Nate Heinrichs replaced Carter Putney and induced a ground ball for an out and a fly out to right field.

Cal Wanninger paced the Knights offense with a pair of hits, scoring twice. Logan Sibenaller had a hit, RBI and scored. Cooper Pottebaum had a hit and an RBI. Carter Putney picked up the win going 6 1/3 innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 earned runs with 5 strikeouts.

The Knights improved to 5-2 on the season and will travel to Atlantic on Friday.

Coon Rapids Bayard out hit the Wheelers 11-8, giving them just enough extra baserunners to pick up a tough road win. The Crusaders scored 5 times in the 1st inning and looked to be in good shape, after Coon Rapids Bayard added a run in the 2nd,  the Wheelers pulled within 2, scoring 4 times in the 2nd inning. Coon Rapids Bayard went back up 5 in the 4th with 3-runs but Audubon answered with a 3 spot in the 5th. The Crusaders added an insurance run in the 7th.

Tanner Oswald and Cal Heydon each had 3 hits with Oswald hitting a home run and Heydon doubling and having 2 RBI. Preston McAlister picked up a pair of hits. Coon Rapids Bayard had 7 guys drive in a run. Lance Clayburg picked up the win, going 3 innings with 5 strikeouts. Coon Rapids Bayard walked 4 times and was hit-by-pitch 7 times.

Audubon was led by Aaron Olsen and Gavin Larsen who each had 2 hits. Braden Wessel picked up a pair of RBI. The Wheelers were able to work out 9 walks.

The Crusaders improved to 6-1 and will host Woodbine in a big Rolling Valley Conference game on Friday. Audubon slips to 3-4 and will host Missouri Valley on Friday.

IKM-Manning garnered 13 hits and walked 15 times, helping to propel them to their second win of the season. The offense was steady all night, but came alive late, scoring 4 times in both the 6th and 7th innings. Reed Hinners had a big game at the plate but was even better on the hill. He went the distance, allowing 7 hits, with 2 runs allowed but neither was earned. He struck out 6. IKM-Manning had eight different players collect a hit, with Hinners leading the way with 4, Brody Blom and Ben Ramsey each had 2 hits. Hinners had a team high 3 RBI, Cooper Perdew and Lane Sams both drove in a pair of runs.

IKM-Manning moved to 2-4 on the season and picked up their first win in the Western Iowa Conference, moving to 1-3. The Wolves will host LoMa on Friday.

Ar-We-Va continued to get solid pitching performances, giving them chances to pick up a win but struggled at the plate, finishing with only 4 hits. The Spartans scored both of their runs in the 5th inning. Wade Ragaller hit a pair of singles, Will Ragaller and Wyatt Ragaller had the other two hits. Conner Kirsch pitched 6 really good innings, allowing 6 hits and 1 earned runs with 5 strikeouts.

The loss drops the Rockets to 0-5 overall and in the conference. They travel to IKM-Manning Saturday afternoon.

The Titans fell down 10-0 in the 1st inning then played even with Ogden the rest of the game, but fell in 5 innings to fall to 2-2 on the season. They picked up 7 hits in the loss and didn’t strikeout, doing a nice job of putting the ball in play. Jayden Soard led the offense with a pair of hits, including a double. Soard scored both the Titans runs. Cody Thompson also doubled and drove in Soard both times. Kaden Dorman, Andrew Anderson, Caleb Juhl and Keegan Soard all had base hits.

South Central Calhoun will host Sioux Central on KIKD 106.7 on Friday.
