The game was tight early with each team threatening in the 1st inning. Melinda Schaefer singled and stole 2nd base but was stranded there for Kuemper. Carroll loaded the bases with walks by Brielle Hinners, Camryn Schable and Vanessa Ayala but wasn’t able to score. That changed in the 3rd inning as the Tigers bats got going. Brielle Hinners lead off the inning with a triple, Camryn Schable reached on a fielders choice and both would score on a double by Vanessa Ayala, Parker Adams doubled, driving in Ayala after Averi Burke sacrificed her to 3rd. Adams scored on a passed ball and Carroll led 4-0 going into the 4th. Kuemper defense struggled in the 4th, committing 4 errors, helping the Tigers score 5 runs. Camryn Schable  had a sac bunt for an RBI and Makalei Kofron doubled to score 2 runs during the inning. Camryn Schable finished off the time limit game in the top of the 5th, though Kuemper threatened when Kaylie Diercksen and Hailey Ostrander walked.

Brielle Hinners went 2-2 with a triple and 2 runs scored, Camryn Schable went 1-1 and picked up the win, going 5 innings, alloing no runs with 8 strikeouts and 6 walks. Vanessa Ayala had a double, 2 RBI and 2 scored twice. Parker Adams also doubled, driving in a run and scored twice. Makalei Kofron doubled.

Melinda Schaefer had the lone hit for the Knights. Schaefer, Hailey Ostrander, Kenzie Schon, Kaci Peter, Kaylie Diercksen and Alexis Diercksen all walked.

Carroll was able to squeeze out a tough win thanks to solid pitching and a good defensive effort. The Tigers didn’t make an error in the game, helping Alyssa Brant pick up the win. Brant went all 6 innings, allowing only 5 runs. Her biggest number was no walks, coupling that with the defense not having any errors and the Tigers didn’t allow any extra baserunners. Carroll picked up 5 hits in the game, getting doubles from Ava Gross and Kylie Riesberg and RBI from Parker Adams and Makalei Kofron. They scored a run in each of the first-three innings but got the game winner in the 4th inning.

Carroll finished off an undefeated run through the tournament with another tight win, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, then holding Greene County in the top 6th to win a time shortened game. The Rams scored a pair of runs in the 1st innings but Carroll chipped away with a run in the 2nd and then took the lead in the 5th.

Carroll was outhit 6-5 but took advantage of their baserunners, getting a triple from Averi Burke. Brielle Hinners had a very strong tournament and drove in a run for Carroll as did Kylie Riesberg. Ava Gross, Makalei Kofron and Brenna Goins all scored for the Tigers. Alyssa Brant got the win, going 5 2/3 innings, allowing 5 hits with 7 strikeouts. Camryn Schable pitched the final 1/3 inning.

Carroll went 3-0 in the tournament, evening their record at 3-3. Carroll plays Kuemper at the little league complex on Tuesday.

Kuemper battled but couldn’t recover from a slow start as they fell to 0-2 at the Ogden Tournament. The Knights fell down 3-0 after the 1st inning but rallied in the 3rd with a pair of runs, but Boone answered with 4 runs in the bottom half. The Knights picked up 3 hits while holding Boone to 6 hits.

Melinda Schaefer reached base all four times she was at bat and started the Kuemper rally in the 3rd, reaching on an error. Kenzie Schon followed by reaching on an error. Kenadee Loew grounded out but scored Schaefer and Schon would score the second run of the inning on an error on a ground ball by Kamryn Venner. The Knights took advantage of more miscues by the Boone defense in the 4th inning. Alexis Diercksen reached on an error and scored on a base hit by Schaefer, after Boone had their second error of the inning, keeping Kuemper alive. Schaefer would single again in the 7th but Kuemper wasn’t able to rally. Boone led 7-2 after the 3rd inning and added solo runs in the 5th and 6th innings.

Melinda Schaefer had 2 of the Knights 3 hits with Kaylie Diercksen picking up the other. Kenadee Loew and Schaefer drove in runs while Schaefer, Kenzie Schon and Alexis Diercksen scored runs. Kamryn Venner took the loss, allowing only 6 hits and 6 earned runs.

Kuemper scored early to take the lead, but lost the lead late in a game that only went 5 innings. The Lynx scored in the bottom of the 4th, then held Kuemper in the top of the 5th to drop the Knights to 0-3 in the tournament.

Hailey Ostrander had one of the Knights 3 hits, leading off the 1st inning with a single. She scored on a Webster City error, giving the Knights a 1-0 lead. Kuemper  had chances in the 1st inning to add to the lead with Melinda Schaefer reaching on an error, Kenzie Schon and Kenadee Loew also got on base and Kamryn Venner singled but Schaefer was thrown out at home on a ground ball and Schon was forced out at 2nd base ending the threat. Alexis Diercksen walked with 2 outs in the 2nd inning and Ostrander reached on an error but the Knights couldn’t score. Alexis Diercksen singled to lead off the 5th for the only other baserunner for Kuemper. Webster City scored in the 4th, with a single, followed by a strikeout, double, single and a Kuemper error, helping them score a run.

Alexis Diercksen, Hailey Ostrander and Kamryn Venner all had hits for Kuemper. Ostrander scored their lone run. Chloe Venteicher took the loss but pitched well, allowing 1 earned run in 4 innings on 5 hits. The struck out 7 with no walks.

The Knights  host Carroll at the little league complex on Tuesday.
