North Polk at Carroll

5 Innings

North Polk      13

Carroll               3

The Carroll Tigers suffered their second loss of the early season as North Polk came to town on Thursday. The Tiger’s defense stayed ahead of the Comets’ offense in the first two innings, only allowing two North Polk runs. Carroll was able to return the favor in the bottom of the third with two runs of their own. Ava Gross got the offense going with a single, Brielle Hinners moved Gross to second off a sacrifice bunt, and Vanessa Ayala brought Gross home off an RBI double. Ayala was later brought home thanks to Camryn Schable reaching first off an error.

Despite the third inning tie, errors caused North Polk to roar back into the game in the top of the fourth. The Comets were able to score eight runs in the top of the fourth alone and ended the game in the fifth inning with three runs to win 13-3. Carroll would grab a run in the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Comets didn’t allow the Tigers to get back into the driver’s seat. The Tigers fall to 0-2 overall in the season. The Tigers will be joined by the Kuemper squad as both area teams will compete at the Ogden Tournament on Saturday, May 28th.

6 innings

Boyer Valley     16

IKM-Manning    6

After a rain storm canceled their originally scheduled season opener, the IKM-Manning Wolves officially opened up the 2022 season against Boyer Valley at home Thursday night. Boyer Valley got the game started with a run in the top of the first inning to lead it 1-0. The Wolves didn’t find much success in the bottom of the second, but after a solid defensive half inning in the second, they got to work in the bottom half of the inning. Six players were able to find their way home to give IKM-Manning a 6-1 lead after two innings of play. Alexis Gruhn, Carlee Neil, and Brooke Booth were all credited with RBIs.
