Thursday State Track Results
Day one of the state track meet is in the book as our area athletes competed amongst the best in the state.
The Ar-We-Va girls shuttle hurdle team was able to finish 13th overall with a time of 1:11.62 but did not qualify for the finals later this week. Will Ragaller finished 20th overall in the boys’ long jump event with a best jump of 19-03.75.
IKM-Manning had some solid times for their events Thursday. Emily Albertsen was able to finish 21st overall in the 3000-meter run with a time of 12:16.89. Caden Keller in the 3200-meter run finished in the top ten, finishing with a time of 10:08.70 in eighth place. The Wolves had both their girls and boys 4X800 teams competing Thursday. The girls’ team, composed of Bianca Cadwell, Emmie Ring, Julianna Stribe, and Emily Albertsen, finished 16th overall with a time of 10:39.24. The boys’ team, composed of Hunter Smith, Lane Sams, Reed Hinners, and Jaxon Doyel, finished just outside the top 10 with an 11th place finish in a time of 8:36.14.
Easton Hays of Coon Rapids Bayard competed in the long jump event and finished 17th overall with a time of 19-07.00. Lance Clayburg threw well in the shot put event, finishing 12th overall with a best throw of 45-05.25. Kolby Culbertson finished 19th overall in the 400 meter dash with a time of 53.17.
Audubon’s Stefi Beisswenger had a solid time in the 3000 meter run, finishing in 6th with a time of 11:07.91. The Audubon boys’ shuttle hurdle relay team qualified for Saturday’s final as they got 4th overall in the event with a time of 1:02.01.
Glidden Ralston’s lone state qualifier Vanessa Koehler represented the Wildcats well with a 12th place finish in the 200 meter dash prelims in a time of 27.51. She’d also finish 11th overall in the 100 meter dash prelims with a time of 13.54, not fast enough to qualify for the finals.
The South Central Calhoun Titans saw Keira Hammen in the shot put event where she qualified for the finals and threw a best throw of 36-05.25, good for eighth place.
Kuemper’s Kenzie Schon and Ellie Sibbel both threw shot put at state track and both qualified for the finals. Sibbel had her best throw in the finals where she threw 38-03.00, good for sixth. Schon had the best finish among our area throwers where she threw 40–03.00 finishing third in class 2A. Ben Gerken competed in the long jump event where he finished 21st overall with a best jump of 19-10.25. Michael Pottebaum finished just outside the top 10 in the 400-meter dash with a 12th place finish in a time of 51.38.
For the Carroll Tigers, Vanessa Ayala competed in the discus event where she had her best throw on her final attempt with a distance of 121-11, finishing ninth overall. Hannah Jorgensen was in action in the 200-meter prelims where she finished 20th overall with a time of 27.85. Zach Dirkx competed in the 400-meter dash where he finished 22nd with a time of 52.60.
Brooke Jergens and Tyler Schmitt of East Sac both competed in the 200-meter prelims. Jergens took home 13th place with a time of 27.40 and Schmitt came in 20th place with a time of 23.49. Jergens also competed in the 100-meter dash prelims where she finished 11th with a time of 13.16.
