The Kuemper Knights put up a good fight against Panorama in their opening match of the Class 1A Regional bracket Wednesday but came up a little short. The Panthers were the first ones on the board in the first half, but they had a tough Kuemper defense that gave them trouble. The Knights kept Panorama to a one goal lead going into halftime. Catherine Mayhall was part of the strong offensive push going into the second half as Panorama got up 2-0. Mayhall was able to get an unassisted goal at the 19-minute mark of the second half to cut down the Panther lead to 2-1. Ashlynn Badding was also a strong force in front of the goal as she recorded 18 saves. Kuemper Head Coach Russell Wintermote says coaches Vaughan and Milligan did a great job of adjusting the team during the team’s deficit in the second half. Despite their offensive push, the Panthers came away victorious with a final score of 2-1. The Knights’ season came to an end with a final record of 8-9.
