Carroll Track State Qualifying Meet Results from Denison Thursday, May 12th
Carroll Girls Sprint Medley team with Marasyn Wittrock, Shay Sinnard, Hannah Jorgensen and Marie Dea ran a very good race to start the State Qualifying meet in Denison. The Tigers stayed in contention all race and Marie Dea was able to hold off Glenwood on the front stretch to pick up the win, qualifying themselves for the State Track Meet next week at Drake. The girls ran a 1:53.09. Shay Sinnard clinched a return berth to state in the long jump, taking 1st place with a jump of 18-04.00. Sinnard broke her own school record! Carroll Girls qualified a third event to the State Meet by winning the Distance Medley with Marasyn Wittrock, Hananh Jorgensen, Katelyn Aden and Marie Dea in a time of 4:23.13. Zack Dirkx of Carroll punches his ticket to the State Track Meet winning the 400 Meters in 52.88. Vanessa Ayala adds another event for the Carroll girls, taking 2nd place in the Discus with a throw of 126-05. Carroll Girls 4×200 ran well and adds another event to their state trip next week taking 2nd with a 1:51.60 with Brenna Goins, Madison Tunning, Libby Perkins and Shay Sinnard. Marie Dea of Carroll moves on to State Track in the 800 Meters, finishing in 2nd with a 2:26.31. Hannah Jorgensen kept the Tigers success going for the girls by winning the 200 meters and advancing to State in 26.96. The strong night continued for the Carroll Girls with them qualifying in the 4×100 by finishing in 2nd place with a 51.57 with Libby Perkins, Hannah Jorgensen, Madison Tunning, Shay Sinnard.
