Kuemper at Hawkeye 10 Conference

From CYO Tournament champions to Hawkeye 10 champions, the Kuemper Knights continued to win as they were crowned champions once again on Monday with solid performances all around. The Knights edged out Lewis Central in the team standings by six strokes to claim the title by a score of 341. 

Thanks to a playoff, Maverick Schwabe was able to take home medalist honors and a conference title with a tournament score of 78. His front nine performance was solid, only recording three bogies overall and continuing his consistency in the back nine with birdies on holes 15 and 17. Tyler Auen kept the solid day moving along nicely for the Knights as he recorded a score of 83 and was fifth individually in the end. Auen’s scorecard did have bogies throughout, but he too was able to secure a birdie in the back nine on hole 15 and 17. Kayden Schon fought the windy conditions and gave the Knights a score of 87. Bencio Lujano rounded out the scoring for Kuemper with a tournament score of 93. 

The Knights return to the course on Wednesday, May 11th for their sectional meet at South Hamilton.

Carroll at Raccoon River Conference

The Carroll Tigers grabbed a fifth-place finish overall at the Raccoon River Conference Tournament along with an individual top ten placement. The Tigers tied with North Polk in the team standings with a score of 325, but North Polk was awarded fourth place due to a tiebreaker. Gilbert was crowned RRC Champions with a team score of 295, beating ADM by seven strokes.

Drew Munson led the Tigers on the course with an individual score of 76, five strokes above par overall and good for ninth overall. In the front nine, he got pars on holes two, five, and nine, and in the back nine he pars on holes 12, 15, and 18. Bryce Berlau was a few strokes behind Munson with a score of 79, good for 12th individually. He was able to have better consistency in the back nine with pars on holes 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, and 18. Will Ragaller ended his tournament with a score of 82 and Miles Bogue rounded out the scoring for Carroll with a score of 88. 

The Tigers have their Class 3A Sectional Meet over in Denison on Wednesday, May 11th.

Coon Rapids Bayard and Glidden Ralston at Rolling Valley Conference Tournament

Coon Rapids Bayard and Glidden Ralston were both in action prior to their sectional meet on Wednesday as they competed in the Rolling Valley Conference Tournament on Monday. The Crusaders finished the best among the two teams, with a team score of 370 and third overall. Glidden Ralston finished sixth overall with a score of 423. 

Toby Benninger was able to finish the tournament 11 strokes above the course par with a score of 81 and was named runner up medalist. Preston McAlister took home a fourth place finish with his score of 85. Jacob Estrada finished in the top 15 individually as he had a score of 92, good for 14th place. Trey Rosenbeck rounded out the scoring for the Crusaders with a score of 112. 

For Glidden Ralston, Caden Wenck led the team with a score of 101. John Whitver was two strokes behind him with a tournament score of 103. Caden Smith was third for the Wildcats with a score of 108 on the day. Tyler Brant finished up the scoring for Glidden Ralston with a score of 111. 

Both Coon Rapids Bayard and Glidden Ralston will be traveling to Fort Dodge for their Class 1A sectional meet, along with Audubon and IKM-Manning.

Audubon at LoMa

The Wheelers had an extremely close day on the course against LoMa Monday with hot and windy weather. The Panthers were able to get the minor edge over Audubon with a winning score of 183, compared to Audubon’s 184. 

Despite the one stroke loss as a team, Edward Miller was able to pull away as the runner up medalist with a score of 45 due to a tiebreaker with LoMa’s Gavin Maguire, who also scored a 45. Also ending the day with a score of 45 was Evan Alt, who gave the Wheelers a solid day on the course. Jay Remsburg was a mere stroke behind Miller, Alt, and Maguire as he had a 46 on the course. Oliver Deist rounded out a solid top four for Audubon with a score of 48. 

Audubon is back in action on Wednesday, May 11th for their sectional meet at Fort Dodge, where Coon Rapids Bayard, Glidden Ralston, and IKM-Manning will also be competing.

Riverside at IKM-Manning

The IKM-Manning Wolves were able to get out on the course for one more day before their sectional meet Wednesday as they competed against Riverside Monday. Riverside did not have a team to compete against the Wolves, so IKM-Manning was awarded the win with a team score of 210. 

Max Nielsen was awarded medalist honors as he completed his home course with a score of 41. Josh Walker was named runner up medalist with a score of 55. Nolan Ramsey was on track with Walker as he ended the windy day with a score of 57, as did Devyn Sander. The Wolves are in action next on Wednesday, May 11th when they travel to Fort Dodge for their Class 1A sectional meet, along with Audubon, Coon Rapids Bayard, and Glidden Ralston.
